Do you dream of working flexibly with good pay? A new opportunity may be closer than you think.
The Federal Institute of Pernambuco (IFPE) has just opened applications for a selection process that promises to change the routine of many teachers interested in working in distance learning (EAD). But don’t be fooled, this opportunity requires much more than just classroom experience.
With the growing demand for qualified professionals in EAD, the IFPE announced a simplified selection process for hiring distance tutors, focused on courses from the Open University of Brazil (UAB) System.

Applications are open until September 23, 2024, through the official website.
Who Can Apply and Be a Tutor?
The opportunity to work as a distance tutor is not for everyone. According to the notice, the process requires that candidates be native or naturalized Brazilians, be up to date with their electoral obligations, and have at least one year of experience in teaching, whether in basic or higher education.
Another important criterion is that the candidate has the required qualification for the specific course in which they intend to work.
Additionally, the candidate must not be enrolled in the course they wish to tutor and cannot have connections to other scholarship programs, except in cases of graduate programs under the responsibility of CAPES or CNPq.
These requirements ensure that the selected individuals are fully committed to the role of distance tutor, as stipulated by Law No. 11,273/2006.
Available Courses
IFPE offers a range of courses that cover different areas of knowledge, and this is an opportunity for those who wish to share their knowledge in a virtual environment. The selected tutors will work in lato sensu specialization courses and degrees, including:
- Specialization in Science Teaching – Science is 10!
- Specialization in Teaching in Professional and Technological Education
- Specialization in Distance Education in Professional and Technological Education
- Specialization in Management in Professional and Technological Education
- Degree in Geography
- Degree in Mathematics
- Technology in Environmental Management
With a total of seven course options, the program aims to expand qualification opportunities for educators across the country, allowing them to develop their activities remotely and flexibly.
Selection Criteria
The selection process is not random. The evaluation of candidates will be based on academic qualifications, titles, professional experience, and volunteer activities, all criteria that are detailed in the official notice.
The goal is to ensure that selected tutors not only have qualifications but also experience to handle the challenges of distance teaching.
According to IFPE, the selection follows a rigorous scoring process, taking into account teaching experience and participation in continuing education programs.
The scholarship offered is worth R$ 1,100.00, according to the CAPES scholarship value table.
Importance of Qualification in EAD
The increase in demand for professionals specialized in Distance Education reflects the growing importance of this teaching model in Brazil.
According to recent data from the Higher Education Census, the number of students enrolled in EAD courses surpasses that of in-person courses in some regions, demonstrating that this modality is not just a trend but a consolidated reality in the Brazilian educational landscape.
In this context, the search for qualified tutors is part of a larger effort by the Ministry of Education to ensure that EAD students receive the same level of instruction as students in in-person courses.
The specialization in EAD, offered by IFPE, represents an opportunity for growth for both tutors and students, reinforcing the importance of accessible and quality education.
How to Apply
Interested candidates must apply exclusively through the website: http://selecoes.ead.ifpe.edu.br, by September 23, 2024.
It is worth noting that the process is completely online and that candidates need to read the notice carefully, to avoid mistakes that could disqualify them in the selection. Once the application is submitted, candidates should monitor the evaluation stages and ensure they meet all the required criteria.
