With This New Venture In Addition to Doubling Its Pet Food Production, the Company Will Also Generate About 1000 Jobs in Direct and Indirect Phases

After receiving investments, now with 92 thousand square meters of constructed area and 1 million square meters of total area, the new PremierPet factory was inaugurated in the town of Porto Amazonas, approximately 80 kilometers from Curitiba, at the end of June 2022. Already owning the brands PremieR, Vitta Natural, and Golden, the giant PremierPet, which is already the largest pet food factory in Latin America, is expected to multiply its capacity to produce dry food and create various job opportunities in the region.

The company chose the location of its new food factory in Porto Amazonas because the municipality is close to suppliers of protein and grains and large consumers. Additionally, the site also has a road network with easy access to rail and port areas, proving to be a suitable place with favorable conditions both for receiving imported supplies and for helping to expand the business.

Construction of the New Factory and Job Opportunities

The factory in Paraná of PremieRpet began its production of pet food after three years of construction. The company responsible for all phases of its construction, from the foundation to the finishing, was AGE Engenharia, and the physical state of the current work (the expansion of the company’s new factory) is close to 100% for the first phase, which includes the first two lines. Also, the construction of the new venture was overseen by the construction firm A.Yoshii, which was responsible for inspecting the engineering project, supplies, and construction of the civil structures.

The new venture will also feature technological extrusion lines and an exclusive laboratory for analysis and will have a production capacity of 660 thousand tons of food for dogs and cats per year. In this construction phase, approximately 350 direct jobs and 700 indirect jobs will be generated in the municipality of Porto Amazonas, which has 5 thousand inhabitants. According to the mayor of Porto Amazonas, Elias Jocid Gomes da Costa, during the inauguration, the jobs generated by the new factory represent 20% of the population.

“We are currently the largest company in Brazil in the pet food segment. This investment, combined with the recent inauguration of the wet natural products plant in Dourado (SP), marks a turning point in the company’s growth history, with unprecedented impact on our market,” states PremierPet’s director of strategic planning and corporate marketing, Madalena Spinazzola.

Commitment to the Environment

The new factory inaugurated in Porto Amazonas was designed to receive Leed Gold certification, the main symbol that recognizes buildings with a commitment to the environment and that meet international standards. According to the industrial director of PremierPet, Cássio Macedo de Toledo, the company was the first to implement rules to combat environmental degradation and has become a reference in the pet food segment with the acquisition of Leed Gold for the cookie factory in Dourado (SP), inaugurated in 2016.

The Leed certification is proof that the company met a series of necessary requirements in the construction process of the factory, which include: location and transportation, sustainable space, efficiency in water use, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, project innovation, and addressing regional priorities.
