After nearly 50 years of neglect, BR-319 receives R$ 678 million to pave 340 km, gain a 320-meter bridge, and try to lift Amazonas out of the mud, the quagmire, and road isolation.
According to Diogo Bezerra, Secretary of Mobility and Infrastructure, of this total amount, R$ 1 billion has already been used in the last two years for various works.
The secretary emphasized the importance of the program: “17 works have already been delivered, we have 33 underway, and today we are issuing the service order for an additional 19 works. This is indeed a government delivery to renew our road network and deliver it to the population.”

Investments Distributed Across Various Fronts
The PE na Estrada program is organized to meet different road needs in the state, with specific investments for each type of highway and urban area. Of the total announced, R$ 78 million will be allocated to rural roads, popularly known as “dirt roads”; R$ 522.5 million will go to urban roads; R$ 876.3 million will be invested in federal highways, while the largest share, R$ 3.6 billion, will be allocated to state highways.

These projects are in the bidding phase and represent a significant advance for the improvement of the state’s transportation infrastructure.
Ongoing Works and Great Promises for The Future
Among the works already initiated by the government, the Canal do Fragoso in Olinda and the Ramal da Arena de Pernambuco in São Lourenço da Mata stand out.
These projects are part of the revitalization of the Metropolitan Region and are considered strategic for easing traffic in areas with high vehicle flow.
In addition to these, the government included in the investment package the Arco Sul, an extension of the Metropolitan Arc that aims to connect the Automotive Hub of Goiana to the Port of Suape. The project, which received an investment of R$ 1.3 billion, promises to transform mobility and strengthen regional economic development. As Diogo Bezerra stated: “We are moving to start this project as soon as possible, as it will be a game changer for the state and the Metropolitan Region’s mobility.”
Details of Benefited Cities and Highways
According to the governor, the first works are expected to begin in November this year, while the southern stretch of the Metropolitan Arc is projected for completion in 2026. The complexity of the work is greater in the northern stretch, where environmental issues are still under analysis. Raquel Lyra hopes that the bidding document for this part of the project will be released in the first half of next year.

Importance Of Pernambuco On The Road For State Development
The PE na Estrada program is seen as essential for the economic development of Pernambuco, boosting transportation and ensuring greater safety on the roads. By improving road infrastructure, the state hopes to attract new investments and stimulate tourism growth, particularly in areas like Porto de Galinhas and Serrambi in Greater Recife. The restoration and expansion of roads should also directly benefit residents’ quality of life, with a reduction in travel time and logistical costs for local businesses.
However, with such a high investment, the challenge now is to ensure that all works are delivered on time and with the expected quality.
