Strada Remains Leader but Feels Pressure from Competition
The Fiat Strada continues to be the best-selling vehicle in the country, being the number one choice in 12 states.
However, this performance represents a slight drop compared to July, when it led in 15 territories.
Nonetheless, the pickup remains a benchmark in national sales, primarily due to its cost-effectiveness and versatility.
Models like the Argo and the Fastback also secured occasional victories for Fiat, reinforcing the brand’s presence across different segments.
Volkswagen Polo Takes Center Stage in Several Regions
Another major highlight of the month was the Volkswagen Polo, which led in six states, including São Paulo, Amazonas, and Rio Grande do Sul. The hatch confirmed the strength of the German automaker, which dominated the South Region with various models.
In Paraná, the surprise came from the VW Saveiro, which took first place and showed that the brand also has a strong presence among utilities.
Corolla Cross Shines and Shows the Strength of SUVs
The major highlight of the month in the SUV segment was the Toyota Corolla Cross. The model was the best-selling car in Paraíba and also secured the runner-up position in five states, including Ceará, Alagoas, and Rio de Janeiro.
This performance occurred precisely in August, a month when the Corolla Cross recorded sales records in Brazil, consolidating Toyota’s strategy to expand its presence in the medium SUV segment.
Chinese Brands Gain Ground in the Federal District
The rise of cars from Chinese origins was one of the most discussed points of the survey. In the Federal District, three of the five best-selling models came from China, with the GWM Haval H6 being the absolute leader in the region.
Models from BYD, such as the Dolphin Mini and the Song, also appeared among the top, signaling that Brazilian consumers are increasingly receptive to new brands offering technology and competitive prices.
Other Curiosities from the Ranking
In addition to the rise of the Corolla Cross and the continued leadership of the Strada, the report brought other relevant points:
The Hyundai HB20, which was once a sales champion, appeared in the top 5 of only three states;
The Chevrolet Onix was present only in Rondônia, far removed from its peak years;
In Rio de Janeiro, the leadership went to the Fiat Fastback, surprising even industry experts.
Brazilian Market Becoming Increasingly Diverse
The results of the national sales ranking in August reveal an automotive market that is becoming increasingly diverse.
Fiat still dominates with the Strada, but Volkswagen is growing with the Polo, and Toyota is solidifying its space with the Corolla Cross, which has become one of the most sought-after SUVs.
Meanwhile, Chinese brands are advancing in strategic capitals, showing that the competition for consumers is fiercer than ever.
