Recognition Comes from the International Consulting Great Place To Work, Which Supports Companies Engaged in Valuing People at the Center of Their Business Strategies.
Salvador, February 22, 2021– The Appian Brazil group, holding company of the mining company Atlantic Nickel, was recognized as an Excellent Company to Work For, achieving international certification from the consulting firm Great Place To Work. The certification extends to Atlantic Nickel, a nickel concentrate producer located in Itagibá (BA), and to Mineração Vale Verde, a copper concentrate producer located in Craíbas (AL).
The news of this recognition is met with pride by the professionals who make the Atlantic Nickel business happen daily without losing sight of their values, which result in healthy, fair management practices and equal opportunities.
The Great Place to Work is an international consulting firm that supports and recognizes organizations that adopt valuing people at the center of their business strategies. The certification for having an excellent work environment is granted after conducting a confidential survey with the company’s employees over 15 days, following strict procedures so that the worker feels completely comfortable expressing their opinions about the work environment.

About Atlantic Nickel
Controlled by the Appian Capital Brazil group and the only producer of sulfide nickel in the country, Atlantic Nickel completed, on October 15, 2020, one year of operation in Itagibá, Bahia state, where it has been engaged in extracting the ore essential for manufacturing electric vehicle batteries. More than 1,700 direct jobs have been created by the business and R$ 151 million injected in purchases and contracts with Bahia suppliers from 2018 to 2020.
The company’s projection is to double its production capacity, with the start of underground mining operations at the Santa Rita Mine, expected in 2028, which will extend the mine’s useful life from eight to 34 years (8 years of open-pit mining + 26 years of underground mining). According to the Preliminary Economic Assessment, about US$ 355 million is expected to be invested in the first five years of this new phase.
Moreover, Atlantic Nickel is already celebrating the recent discovery of a new deposit with significant nickel resource potential just 26 km away, in the same geological belt where the Santa Rita Mine operates. The proximity of this new area to the existing infrastructure, combined with the feasibility of logistical integration, points to the success of the expansion study.
