Both Refineries, Replan and Refap, Achieved the Highest Production of Diesel S10 Ever Registered in History
The refineries of Paulínia, Replan and Alberto Pasqualini, Refap, both Petrobras refineries located in the states of São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul, respectively, recorded significant milestones in July 2022. Both refineries achieved the highest monthly production of diesel S10 in their histories.
Replan reached a total of 3,196 thousand barrels of diesel S-10, while the previous record was in March 2022, with a production of 3,174 thousand barrels. Diesel S10 is a low-sulfur fuel that meets the most modern engine technology used in Brazil.
The Refap refinery also set a new record for diesel S10 production in July. The refinery produced around 1,404 thousand barrels, an increase over the May production, which recorded 1,306 thousand barrels. Both units also recorded sales records for diesel S10.

The strategy for Petrobras’ refinery park, Replan and Refap, is to constantly seek its most efficient utilization, observing market demands for each product and also the supply alternatives for oil and its derivatives, such as diesel. The performance of the refineries, Replan and Refap, respects safety, environmental, and quality requirements of the derivatives produced, such as diesel, with a focus on generating profit for Petrobras refineries.
Gasoline Production from Replan and Refap
In June, the refineries recorded a production of 535.9 thousand m³ of fuel, signifying an increase of 9.3% over the 489.9 thousand m³ summed in the sixth month of the previous year, Petrobras declared. Previously, the highest volume for the month had been recorded in 2013, when it was 548.8 thousand m³.

2019: 2,321,275
2020: 1,587,287
2021: 2,529,271

Increase in Production at Refineries, Replan and Refap, of Diesel and Other Fuels May Not Reflect in Input Prices
According to economist and professor at PUC-Campinas, Roberto Brito de Carvalho, the increase in production at Replan and Refap refineries does not directly affect the prices for end consumers of diesel, gasoline, and others.
“The demand for diesel and gasoline is quite controlled, so the tendency is to remain constant, unless there are changes in cost structures, like what happened with gasoline. When we had reductions in tax rates for diesel and gasoline, such as with the ICMS [Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services], that allows for potential changes. If there are no changes, you don’t have price fluctuations due to demand behavior. You manage it by controlling supply either by increasing stocks or eventually adjusting prices due to shortages stemming from supply.”
Lowest Gasoline Price at Stations
The average price of gasoline at gas stations in Campinas is R$ 5.59, which represents the lowest value since the third week of August 2021, when it was R$ 5.58, according to the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP). Compared to the previous week, when it was R$ 5.68, the final price of gasoline and diesel represents a decrease of R$ 0.09, a drop of 1.58%.
At gas stations, gasoline is sold in the range of R$ 5.25 to R$ 5.99. The price drop also occurred after São Paulo reduced the ICMS from 25% to 18% on June 27, to comply with a federal law.
