Youtubers Innovate And Develop Bicycle With Triangular Wheels. Check Out The Video And Details Of The Project Below.
The basic design of pedal-powered bicycles has remained the same for over a century. Although their performance and the materials they are made from have improved significantly, the classic design of a frame with two round tires is the basic concept that has worked for a long time. However, some disagree that this should stop there. A great example of this is the Youtubers from the channel The Q.
Youtubers Develop Bicycle With Triangular Wheels
In their latest endeavor, the inventors developed a bicycle project with triangular wheels that can roll like conventional ones. Before this, the youtubers posted a video of an unconventional custom bicycle. This is because they designed and developed a bicycle with square wheels.
At first, the vehicle seemed impossible to “ride,” as it apparently required impossible amounts of force on the pedal for its tires to roll. However, it turned out that they used an intelligent design, as they didn’t need to roll. Instead, the tires function like a sort of step or tread that slides and propels the bicycle forward. It’s a mechanism similar to that of a military tank.

The Brazilian Air Force brings together 13 countries and over 1,200 military personnel in Campo Grande for the largest multinational natural disaster response exercise ever held in Brazil, featuring simulations of forest fires and high-complexity aerial rescues.
However, the Youtubers didn’t stop with the square wheels, and after their success, The Q went back to work to try to develop a bicycle with triangular wheels. Unlike the square tires, these triangular wheels, in fact, roll just like round ones do. It’s an idea that seems impossible, or at least would be incredibly uncomfortable to ride.
The solution was to slightly curve each side of the triangular wheels and develop a pair of articulated arms, allowing the center of each wheel to move up and down. This way, it’s possible to ride the bicycle in such a way that the cyclist hardly feels this up-and-down movement. Perhaps the cyclist feels a subtle increase in forward speed every time the triangular wheels transition from their peak points to their flat sides.
The Reuleaux Triangle
The tire of the bicycle developed by the Youtubers is designed as a Reuleaux Triangle, or spherical triangle, which is the simplest example of the so-called Reuleaux polygons, named after Franz Reuleaux, a scientist and engineer who developed them. A spherical triangle can be constructed directly from three circles or by rounding the sides of an equilateral triangle.
The construction with three circles can be done using a compass alone, without the need for a ruler. According to the Mohr-Mascheroni theorem, the same is true for any construction with ruler and compass, however, the construction of the Reuleaux triangle is straightforward.
It’s worth noting that this triangle is also present in internal combustion rotary engines, developed by Felix Wankel, which use rotors shaped like triangles instead of the pistons of conventional reciprocating engines.
Innovative Electric Bicycles Hit The Market
Reevo announced in November of last year an electric bicycle that rides like any other, featuring pedals, batteries, and tires. However, its biggest highlight is its tires, as the company decided to develop the world’s first e-bike without a central hub.
With patented technology, the wheels feature a center made from very strong and lightweight material.
The tire itself rotates around the hollow core, causing the vehicle to move. According to the company, precise impact tests were conducted to ensure the technology is as safe as possible. Besides being a design issue, providing a futuristic electric vehicle image, the empty space in the tires can be utilized for transporting objects.
