French Automaker Strengthens Global Cooperation Strategy by Negotiating with Chery and Seeking Expansion in the Latin American Market

The Renault has intensified its strategic movements in 2025. The automaker announced, on November 1, that it is in negotiations with car manufacturers, including the Chinese Chery, with the goal of expanding industrial and commercial partnerships.
This information was confirmed by Fabrice Cambolive, growth director of the Renault Group, during a press conference held on Friday, October 31, in Paris, as reported by Reuters.

According to the executive, the talks come shortly after the conclusion of a deal signed with the Chinese Geely in Brazil. The contract was formalized on October 28, 2025 and marks a new phase of industrial integration for the French automaker in the country.

Strategic Partnerships Strengthen Global Presence

The deal with Geely includes the sale of 26.4% of Renault’s Brazilian subsidiary, according to a statement published on October 28. This initiative reinforces the company’s goal of diversifying its operations, while also increasing manufacturing efficiency and reducing production costs.

In addition, the two companies decided to act together in the Brazilian market, which represents the largest in Latin America. This movement occurs in a context of strong automotive competitiveness. BYD, for example, is investing in the construction of a factory for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, which intensifies the competition for space and innovation in the sector.

Enthusiastically, Cambolive stated: “This type of partnership is clearly a winning partnership, because it expands access to different platforms, industrial tools, engineering, and distribution networks.”

Brazil as the Center of the New Phase of Industrial Cooperation

The Renault plant in Paraná will produce Geely brand models, integrating with existing assembly lines. The vehicles will be marketed through Renault’s dealer network, ensuring greater presence and efficiency in distribution.

In return, Renault will use Geely’s vehicle architecture to expand its offerings and diversify segments in the Brazilian market. Currently, the Paraná unit operates at 50% of its annual capacity, estimated at 400,000 units.
The plan foresees an increase in production and better utilization of infrastructure, reflecting the brand’s commitment to productivity and innovation.

Global Expansion Focused on Efficiency and Innovation

The Renault maintains operations in more than 12 countries, including France, Spain, and India. The company also produces the Grand Koleos in South Korea, a vehicle developed on the Geely platform since 2024.
This cooperation reinforces the commitment to innovation and shared technology.

The strategy demonstrates a global trend of collaboration with Chinese automakers that drive technological advancement and reduce industrial costs.
In addition to Geely, the Chery also emerges as a potential partner in new projects. According to Cambolive, negotiations are ongoing, which indicates new possibilities for cooperation in different markets.

Renault Invests in Efficiency to Consolidate New Phase

With clear goals of efficiency and innovation, the Renault repositions its industrial operations and strengthens its international presence. The company values productive alliances to increase competitiveness and adapt to the energy transition.

The automotive sector is undergoing deep changes, with the growing demand for hybrid and electric technologies. That’s why Renault invests in intelligent synergies, seeking to optimize processes and drive sustainability.

These initiatives demonstrate a collaborative and pragmatic approach, which keeps the brand aligned with global dynamics and ensures relevance in the major automotive markets.
