Investments In The New Distribution Center
For Pedro Pereira, the supply director of the fashion retailer, the new distribution center of Renner in the city of Cabreúva, in the state of São Paulo, can boost the growth of the marketplace, which currently has just over 50 partner sellers, compared to 440 for rival C&A. “The expectation is to boost online sales. The new distribution center was designed in line with our omnichannel strategy (selling through multiple channels) and, therefore, already includes the most current technology to optimize both store replenishment and delivery to customers’ homes,” says Fabio Faccio, president of Renner. According to the executive, the new DC will support Renner’s growth until 2035.
Of the BRL 1.2 billion invested in the new distribution center, BRL 750 million comes from Renner itself, and the remaining BRL 520 million is sourced from a contribution by Kinea Investimentos, an investment management company of Itaú. In addition to the DC in Cabreúva, Renner has Distribution Centers in Santa Cruz, in Rio de Janeiro, and also in São José, in Santa Catarina.

Renner Invests In New Technologies
According to information published in the newspaper, O Estado de São Paulo, of the BRL 1.2 billion invested in the new distribution center, BRL 453 million will be allocated to technology, including the purchase of 312 robots for storing boxes and clothing. This investment in technology by Renner will be crucial, according to the executives, to create an efficient system to start receiving items from third parties, which will be made available on the marketplace.
So far, in 2021, the retailer’s shares have accumulated a 20% drop. To reverse this situation, Renner aims to become more agile, with one of the goals due to the new distribution center being a 50% reduction in the time required for replenishing the company’s stores, focusing the distribution coming from Santa Catarina on the still small store expansions into Argentina and Uruguay.
