The New Wind Farm Is A Project By Enel. The Site Received Investments Of R$ 948 Million And Is Located In São Miguel Do Gostoso
A new wind farm began operations with 49 wind turbines and an installed capacity of 206 MW of clean energy on Wednesday (10/20) in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. The Cumaru park, from Enel Green Power, is located in São Miguel do Gostoso, on the northern coast of Rio Grande do Norte, and was launched at an event. The complex had investments of R$ 948 million. Details About The Wind Farm
The new wind farm, which cost nearly R$ 1 billion, is the first of five projects under construction by Enel in the country. By the beginning of next year, the company will have around 1,300 MW of renewable energy in operation in the sector, resulting from an investment of R$ 5.6 billion. In addition to Cumaru, the company has three other wind farms under construction and one solar farm – all located in the Northeast.
The wind farm inaugurated on Wednesday in the state of Rio Grande do Norte has 49 wind turbines installed over an area of 300 hectares. All the equipment, according to the company, was manufactured in Brazil. This project alone will prevent the emission of over 543,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. The project took 13 months to complete, employed 1,100 people (80% from the region), and was completed 15 days ahead of schedule – which is a relief given the electricity crisis due to low reservoir levels.

Diversification Of The Energy Matrix
“This demonstrates a faster way to provide a structural solution to the issue we are currently facing in the country,” says Roberta Bonomi, executive responsible for Enel Green Power in Brazil. According to her, at this moment, it’s even more important to diversify the energy matrix of the country. “Both technologies (wind and solar) are quite competitive today.” The executive highlights that the company has the largest solar plant in Latin America in Piauí, with a generation capacity of 864 MW.
In Brazil, the Enel Group, through its subsidiaries EGPB and Enel Brasil, has a total installed renewable capacity of over 3,700 MW, of which 1,500 MW is from wind farms, 979 MW is solar, and 1,300 MW is hydroelectric. Wind energy has made a great contribution to the country during the current electricity crisis. The plants, the vast majority installed in the Northeast, were responsible for up to 21% of total generation. This helped preserve water in the reservoirs and ensure supply.

Tradener, one of the largest independent electricity and natural gas trading companies in the country, has just inaugurated a wind farm in the municipality of Pindaí, in the southern part of the state of Bahia, with 34 wind turbines of 2.35 MW each, installed along a stretch of 17 KM. All turbines are in operation, 10 of them are in testing phase, awaiting the operating license for the start of commercial operation. The project received investments of R$ 470 million.
With a total installed capacity of 79.9 MW, the wind farm in Pindaí, Bahia, has an estimated average generation of 38 MW of energy. During the execution of the works, more than 500 direct jobs were created, in addition to another 300 indirect jobs, in the Pindaí and Guanambi region.
All the energy generated by the wind farm is being sold by Tradener, serving large consumers in the Free Energy Market. This park is yet another solution that provides Tradener’s consumers with the opportunity to purchase clean and renewable energy, as well as promote supply security and the potential for certification in the very near future.
