The Spanish Oil Company Repsol Hired a Maersk Drilling Drillship for Offshore Drilling in Mexico.
Maersk Drilling said on Tuesday that Repsol’s Mexican subsidiary, Repsol Exploración México, contracted its drillship Maersk Valiant for a two-well project. Repsol will deploy the 7th generation drillship delivered in 2013 in offshore blocks 10 and 29 in the Gulf of Mexico.
“The contracts have a planned duration of 138 days and are expected to start in March 2020. In addition to firm work, the contracts include two options for one well”, said Maersk Drilling.

Morten Kelstrup, Chief Commercial and Innovation Officer of Maersk Drilling: “We are very pleased to expand our working relationship with Repsol through this commitment, which also enhances our presence in the exciting Mexican deepwater market following the recent contract announced by the Mærsk Developer.”
“Furthermore, it is worth noting that the entire fleet of floaters from Maersk Drilling is now booked for current or future work, which means that all floaters are now activated and may be available for additional contracts with zero lead time”, said Kelstrup.
The Maersk Valiant is currently docked in Port Fourchon, Louisiana. Maersk Drilling has not yet indicated values. Bassoe Offshore estimates it to be around US$ 175,000.
