Fiat Plans To Bring Back The Uno With Peugeot 208 Platform, Promising Innovation And Sustainability
The Fiat Uno, one of the most iconic models from the Italian automaker, is about to make a triumphant return. According to Auto+, the New Uno already has a production code at the Betim, MG factory, identified as FUH, and is internally referred to as “Uno Reborn”, according to Terra.
Strategic Return Of The Classic Car: Fiat Uno
Since 2020, the Car Guide has been tracking rumors about the new generation of the Fiat Uno. Initially, sources from Stellantis indicated that the return of the Uno made no sense, as “in Brazil, only cars the size of the Argo or larger work.” However, the possibility of a New Argo Bio-Hybrid, with a mild hybrid system, was suggested as an alternative.
However, new information from journalist João Brigato of Auto+ indicates a change in direction. The New Uno May Replace The Argo, being larger than the second generation of the Uno, discontinued in 2021 with the Ciao version. Olivier François, global CEO of Fiat, has already expressed a desire to “resurrect” iconic names from the brand, and the Uno seems to be next on the list.

Modern And Sustainable Platform
Auto+ emphasizes that Project FUH represents an opportunity that Fiat should not pass up. According to Car Guide, the chances of the Fiat Uno’s resurgence increase between 2027 and 2028, based on the electric Fiat Panda adapted for Brazil. In Europe, the Fiat Panda concept, presented by Stellantis, will utilize the same platform as the Peugeot 208, also used in the Opel Corsa and Citroën C3.
In Brazil, the revival of the Uno name is natural, due to its strong market presence. The modern and sustainable platform, shared with other successful models, promises superior performance and greater energy efficiency.
Stellantis Strategy
In addition to the New Uno, Stellantis has codes for three other car models: the new Fiat Pulse (FU2), the new Fiat Fastback (FX2), and the new Fiat Strada (XBP). The automaker is focused on diversifying and modernizing its vehicle lineup, aiming for launches between 2028 and 2030.
While the idea of an electric Fiat Mobi may seem distant, the production of the Leapmotor T03 in Poland by Stellantis demonstrates the intention to expand its electric portfolio. The manufacturing of the BYD Dolphin Mini in Bahia also promises to revolutionize the urban car market in Brazil.

Impact On The Automotive Market
The return of the Fiat Uno, with a modern and sustainable platform, promises to shake up the Brazilian automotive market. The combination of the iconic name with advanced technologies and adaptation to current demands could secure the New Uno a prominent position among Fiat’s future launches. Stellantis’s strategy of resurrecting established names, combined with a innovative vision, shows that the automaker is ready to face challenges and seize opportunities in the market in the coming years.
The anticipation for the New Fiat Uno is high. With a solid base, shared with renowned models, and a commitment to sustainability, the New Uno promises to be more than just a simple return: it will be a significant evolution in the automotive segment. This new chapter marks an era of customizable and efficient electric cars. While Brazilian enthusiasts celebrate nostalgia, Europeans eagerly await this automotive renaissance.
Future Launches From Fiat
In addition to the exciting return of the New Uno, Fiat has also said goodbye to another iconic model: the Fiat Palio. Launched in 1996, the Palio captured the market with its innovations in design, safety, and construction, but was discontinued in 2018 to make way for the Argo. The legacy of the Palio remains, while Fiat continues to evolve with new models and technologies.
With the New Fiat Uno and other planned launches, Fiat demonstrates that it is ready to lead the future of the automotive market, combining tradition and innovation to meet the demands of a constantly changing world.
