Electrical Technology Transforms Steelmaking and Mining with Industrial Energy Efficiency, Predictive and Preventive Maintenance, and Predictive Data Analysis.
Electrical technology is revolutionizing the production chain of the steel and mining industries. The efficient use of electrical technology not only improves energy efficiency but also fosters significant innovations in industrial processes. Predictive data analysis and preventive and predictive maintenance are some of the most advanced approaches being implemented, ensuring greater productivity and sustainability.
The benefits of electrical technology extend to the use of various electric equipment, which are essential for the safe and efficient operation of these industries. These electrical devices enable continuous monitoring and real-time adjustments of industrial processes. With the adoption of advanced electrical systems, companies achieve a significant reduction in operational costs and a notable improvement in overall performance. Therefore, the electrical technology market is indispensable for the entire modern production chain.
While average growth is aligned with GDP, equipment with higher embedded electrical technology and greater efficiency shows a much faster expansion rate. This is particularly evident in an industry that is transitioning to Industry 4.0 technologies, utilizing cloud performance monitoring and predictive data analysis.

A startup backed by OpenAI has started selling a $20,000 robot for household tasks, but when the robot doesn’t know what to do, an employee puts on a virtual reality headset, sees the inside of the house through a camera, and operates each movement. The CEO said that without this, he cannot improve the product.

Energy Savings and Industrial Efficiency
Energy savings and energy efficiency are crucial topics throughout the industrial sector. Every industry requires electrical energy for its operations. In particular, electric motors, which convert electrical energy into mechanical energy, are extremely important. By 2040, it is predicted that the number of electric motors on the market will double. However, the global capacity of available resources cannot keep up with this demand in equal proportion.
Data indicates that approximately 75% of industries use some type of electric equipment. An alarming statistic is that nearly half of global energy consumption comes from motors. Therefore, it will always be a highly active sector in the economy, as noted by Luis Oliani, CEO of APS Soluções, one of the largest electric technology solution companies in Latin America.
Necessary Transformations in the Industrial Sector
The need for transformation in the steelmaking and mining chain One of the current industrial standards requires the use of more efficient electric motors of the IR3 category. As detailed by Oliani, replacing electric equipment with more efficient models requires an investment that is quickly amortized.
Oliani adds that by replacing an old IR2 motor from another brand with an IR3 motor from ABB, of the same power (75 hp), the customer will see their investment compensated in just 16 months of use, solely from the energy savings provided. Over a period of ten years, the customer will save more than R$ 250,000.00 in energy costs, not to mention the less expensive maintenance and greater reliability in production that this solution offers.
Maintenance and Energy Efficiency
Predictive and preventive maintenance are also essential to achieving greater energy efficiency, especially in sectors such as mining, where operations occur in harsh environments and require minimal downtime for maintenance. ‘Advanced electrical technology, with cloud performance monitoring and predictive data analysis, is one of the pillars of industrial energy efficiency,’ says Oliani.
APS Soluções will be present at the 34th Expo Usipa, the largest industrial, commercial, and service event in the Vale do Aço, which will take place from July 17 to 20 in Ipatinga (MG). The goal is to provide an immersive experience for visitors, showcasing two advanced technological solutions at their booth in Sector G4, number 237.
