The project implemented by the NGO Junior Achievement encourages the professional development of young people with the “learn by doing” method through a partnership between the public, private and third sectors
In 2019, Trilha Empreendedora took eight entrepreneurship, preparation for the world of work and financial education programs to students from 24 Inovador High Schools, in ten municipalities in the state of Rio, contributing to a more competent and engaged education of young people. This is a project by the NGO Junior Achievement (JA), in partnership with the State Department of Education (SEEDUC), and eighteen companies in the oil and gas sector associated with the Brazilian Institute of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (IBP), such as Baker Hughes, Petrobras, Subsea7, Shell, Ipiranga, among others. The Trail consists of applying a sequence of JA programs that provide students with the opportunity to develop fundamental skills and competencies to face the challenges of today and a job market in constant change.

Throughout the process, students discuss the importance of staying in school, understand complex topics such as financial management and project management, learn to identify and develop skills valued by the job market and even follow the routine of a professional, for a day , in the companies that supported the project. The entire Trail is developed by teachers from the state education network and by volunteers from partner companies through practical activities that encourage young people to become protagonists and self-knowledge.
“The Entrepreneurial Trail taught me how to behave, it helped me to see what's best in me, to think about the opportunities for my future and to outline my goals. I learned that we have to live for today, but thinking about tomorrow,” declared Lucas Noronha, a student at Colégio Estadual Professor Antônio Maria Teixeira Filho, in a tone of thanks to those responsible for and supporters of the project.
In its third edition, Trilha directly impacted 2.785 students. But, in addition to contributing to the development of young people, the project also adds to the ongoing training of teachers and volunteers who, when connecting with the topics covered, have the opportunity to update their knowledge and, thus, develop new skills. For 2020, the expectation is to increase the number of impacts and participating schools.
“It is a great joy for us at Baker Hughes to make it possible for high school students to connect with the job market. Young people had the opportunity to see up close the day-to-day activities of teams that work in areas related to each one's aptitude", said Daniel Rachman, CFO of Baker Hughes Brasil, about the experience of receiving CIEP 199 young people at Baker Hughes. Charles Chaplin, located in Duque de Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense. “The value of this initiative lies precisely in promoting practical knowledge for these young people, who are in a very important phase of forming their choices for professional life”, concluded Rachman.
During the Entrepreneurial Trail, young people participate in programs such as: The Advantages of Staying at School; Personal Economy; Company in Action; Let's Talk Ethics; Connected with Tomorrow; Skills for Success; Shadow Businessman; My Money, My Business; and Project Management. All these programs are part of the “Oriented Studies” discipline in the school curriculum and are methodologically adapted to the school curriculum of each of the high school grades.
