The Bold Solar Energy Generation Project in Tapejara Aims to Serve a Large Part of the Public Sector in Rio Grande do Sul

A ceremony was held at the City Council of Tapejara in Rio Grande do Sul on Tuesday (16) to mark the signing of the bidding contract for the installation of a photovoltaic solar power plant in the municipality. Solar panels will be used to generate electricity from heat and sunlight.

The mayor, Rodrigo Pezão, and his deputy, Rogério Francischini, attended the signing ceremony, along with council members, leaders, businessman Edmar Arruda, the president of the council, Jair Perez, Ramiro Cândido de Souza Júnior, director of SAMAE, as well as representatives from the winning companies and other officials.

The bold solar energy generation project aims to meet a large part of the public sector, addressing the demand for public lighting, public buildings, and SAMAE. The lamps to be used will be 100% LED, leading to greater savings for the consumer.

According to businessman and former congressman Edmar Arruda, Tapejara could become the second Brazilian city and the first in Rio Grande do Sul to implement this type of plant for generating clean and renewable energy.

“The city becomes an example for Brazil and goes down in history,” said the businessman.

Mayor Rodrigo Pezão spoke about the importance of the project and the jobs that will be created during its execution:

“We did a lot in the first term, but this project will be marked by its greatness and the economic benefits for the people of Tapejara with the installation of the photovoltaic solar power plant.”

Investment

The project will require an investment of around R$ 15 million, through a public-private partnership. The estimate is that after 72 months, the municipality of Tapejara will save more than R$ 70 million over 19 years.
