Port Sector Crisis Led to Bankruptcy Filing; In Addition to Santos Port, the Company Also Operated at Recife Port

The Rodrimar Group has just issued a note this Thursday (06/06) informing that it filed for bankruptcy protection.
The announcement is on the company’s official website, and the reasons for this request were the severe crisis in the Brazilian port sector that affected the company and caused its negotiating capacity with creditors to reach critical levels.

The note states: “This measure was essential for the companies to honor their commitments with suppliers, employees, partners, customers, and creditors, with the least possible impact, as has always been the case throughout its more than 70 years of activity”.

The situation for the Rodrimar group worsened significantly after the arrest of its owner, Antônio Celso Grecco, by the Federal Police, due to investigations that also involved former President Michel Temmer.

In 2017, the former president reportedly decreed the extension of the concession periods for areas operated by the group, areas whose contracts had expired five years prior.

Operating Ports

The container terminal operated by Rodrimar at Santos Port spans 70,000 square meters and is located in Saboó.
The company also operates, in Santos, the Pérola terminal at the Outeirinhos dock, where it handles fertilizers and salt.

Among the other terminals controlled by the Rodrimar group, one is located at Recife Port and focuses on the cabotage market (shipping between ports of the same country) for container transport, and the other is in Ribeirão Preto to serve the port market, in addition to the one it has in Miami, United States.
