Rumo, The Largest Railway Operator In The Country, Completes Work That Promises To Transform Mobility And Development In Votuporanga. With An Investment Of R$ 22.3 Million, The Underpass Will Facilitate Traffic And Contribute To The Region’s Growth.

A major project has been completed and promises to revolutionize the urban mobility of the city. The partnership between the railway giant Rumo and the local government resulted in a structure that can change the routine of residents and boost the local economy.

After months of waiting and a series of works, the population has finally received a solution that promises to address one of the region’s biggest challenges.

Rumo, the largest private cargo railway operator in Brazil, announced yesterday (26) the completion of the underpass beneath the railway line, located on Avenida República do Líbano, in the Sonho Meu neighborhood, southern Votuporanga.

The project, which received a R$ 22.3 million investment, was officially delivered at a ceremony attended by various authorities, and is expected to directly impact urban mobility in the city.

Investment And Local Development

The partnership between Rumo and the Votuporanga city government, which executed the project over 10 months, brought benefits that go beyond mobility.

The project generated around 60 direct and 40 indirect jobs, helping to boost the local economy.

According to Rumo, the project is part of the compensatory measures for the early extension of the concession of the Malha Paulista, established with the Federal Government.

The project, in addition to improving the city’s infrastructure, is already being identified as a new development corridor.

This is because the southern region of the city, where the project was built, is in full expansion, with new enterprises being planned.

With a length of 32.18 meters and a height of 6.45 meters, the underpass was designed to ensure a safe crossing for vehicles and pedestrians, eliminating the need for frequent traffic disruptions due to the railway.

It is expected that, with this improvement, the flow of vehicles and pedestrians will become safer and more efficient, providing more comfort and reducing accidents.

Ceremony And Participation

The official delivery of the project was attended by several authorities, including First Lady Rose Seba, city secretaries, and business leaders.

However, Mayor Jorge Seba did not attend the event due to the election period, but emphasized in a statement the project’s importance for the city’s development.

Karina do Carmo, chief of staff for State Deputy Carlão Pignatari, also attended and reinforced the importance of investments like this for the region’s infrastructure.

According to her, projects like this are essential to guarantee connectivity and the development of cities that are part of the Malha Paulista route.

Safety And Integration Of Modalities

According to Giana Custódio, Rumo’s Institutional Relations Manager, the completion of the underpass reflects the company’s commitment to safety and urban development.

She stated that the project will provide safer and smoother traffic, as well as directly contribute to the quality of life of Votuporanga’s residents.

The project is part of a broad plan for modernizing the railway and road infrastructure of the Malha Paulista, covering various cities in the state of São Paulo.

The central idea is to promote integration between modalities, that is, to facilitate connections between different means of transport, generating direct benefits for the population and for agribusiness, the main sector served by railways.

Future Impacts

Rumo’s project is seen as a landmark for the city and the region. In addition to improving mobility, the new underpass will serve as a route to the city’s airport, an area that is also rapidly expanding.

As a result, traffic in the region should become smoother, encouraging new investments in the area and facilitating the movement of residents and tourists.

Mayor Jorge Seba also highlighted the project’s importance for the city’s future, stating that the underpass will be essential for the integration among different regions of Votuporanga.

“This project is fundamental for urban mobility in an expanding area and will help bring more development and safety to drivers and pedestrians who use this road daily”, he said.

Rumo And Its Role In Brazilian Agribusiness

In addition to its investments in urban mobility, Rumo stands out as a key player in the logistics of Brazilian agribusiness.

The company operates extensive railway networks that connect the main grain and commodity production centers to the country’s ports and export hubs.

Its operations not only offer a low-cost and low-carbon transportation alternative but also help reduce the environmental impact of logistics operations in Brazil.

With the completion of this project in Votuporanga, Rumo reinforces its role as a strategic partner for the growth of cities and the sustainable development of the country.

For experts, the delivery of the underpass on Avenida República do Líbano is a clear example of how public-private partnerships can transform a city’s reality.

The project, in addition to improving the mobility and safety of Votuporanga, opens doors for new investments and consolidates the city as an important development hub in the region.
