Partnership between Rumo and Votuporanga delivers work that promises to revolutionize mobility and boost the city's development.

Rumo, the largest railway operator in the country, has completed a project that promises to transform mobility and development in Votuporanga. With an investment of R$22,3 million, the underpass will ease traffic and contribute to the region's growth.

A major project has been completed that promises to revolutionize the city's urban mobility. The partnership between the railway giant Rumo and the local government has resulted in a structure that could change residents' routines and boost the local economy.

After months of waiting and a series of works, the population finally received a solution that promises to resolve one of the region's biggest challenges.

Rumo, the largest private freight railway operator in Brazil, announced yesterday (26) the completion of the underpass under the railway line, located on Avenida República do Líbano, in the Sonho Meu neighborhood, south of Votuporanga.

The work, which featured a investment of R$22,3 million, was officially delivered in a ceremony with several authorities, and should directly impact the city's urban mobility.

Investment and local development

The partnership between Rumo and the city of Votuporanga, which carried out the project over 10 months, brought benefits that go beyond mobility.

The work generated around 60 direct jobs and 40 indirect jobs, which helped to boost the local economy.

According to Rumo, the project is part of the counterparts for the early extension of the Malha Paulista concession, signed with the Federal Government.

The project, in addition to improving the city's infrastructure, is already being identified as a new development corridor.

This is because the southern region of the city, where the work was carried out, is in full expansion, with new developments being planned.

At 32,18 meters long and 6,45 meters high, the underpass was designed to ensure safe crossing for vehicles and pedestrians, eliminating the need for frequent traffic interruptions due to the railway.

The expectation is that, with this improvement, the flow of vehicles and pedestrians will become safer and more efficient, providing more comfort and reducing accidents.

Ceremony and participation

The official handover of the work was attended by several authorities, such as First Lady Rose Seba, municipal secretaries and business leaders.

Mayor Jorge Seba, however, did not participate in the event due to the election period, but highlighted in a note the importance of the project for the city's development..

Karina do Carmo, chief of staff for state deputy Carlão Pignatari, was also present and reinforced the importance of investments like this for the region's infrastructure.

According to her, projects like this are essential to guarantee the connectivity and development of the cities that make up the Malha Paulista route.

Safety and integration of modes

According to Giana Custódio, Institutional Relations Manager at Rumo, the completion of the underpass reflects the company's commitment to safety and urban development.

According to her, the work will provide safer and more fluid traffic, in addition to contributing directly to the quality of life of Votuporanga residents.

The project is part of a broader plan to modernize the railway and road infrastructure of Malha Paulista, which covers several cities in the state of São Paulo.

The central idea is to promote integration between modes, that is, to facilitate the connection between different means of transport, generating direct benefits for the population and for agribusiness, the main sector served by railways.

Future impacts

Rumo's work is seen as a milestone for the city and the region. In addition to improving mobility, The new passage will function as an access route to the city's airport, an area that is also expanding rapidly.

As a result, traffic in the region should become more fluid, encouraging new investments in the area and facilitating the movement of residents and tourists.

Mayor Jorge Seba also highlighted the importance of the work for the future of the city, stating that the passage will be essential for the integration between different regions of Votuporanga.

“This work is essential for urban mobility in an expanding area, and will help bring more development and safety to drivers and pedestrians who use this road daily,” he said.

Rumo and its role in Brazilian agribusiness

In addition to its investments in urban mobility, Rumo stands out as a key player in Brazilian agribusiness logistics.

Company operates extensive rail networks that connect the main grain and other commodity production centers to the country's ports and export centers.

Its operations not only offer a low-cost, low-carbon transportation alternative, but also help reduce the environmental impact of logistics operations in Brazil.

With the completion of this work in Votuporanga, Rumo reinforces its role as a strategic partner for the growth of cities and the sustainable development of the country.

For experts, the delivery of the underpass on Avenida República do Líbano is a clear example of how public-private partnerships can transform the reality of a city.

The project, in addition to improving mobility and security in Votuporanga, opens doors for new investments and consolidates the city as an important development hub in the region.
