The vessels were purchased from Starnav, and are now part of the multinational’s fleet, which aims to expand its operations in the market, now with 69 ships. This is one of the largest transactions in SAAM’s history, as well as an important strategy for growth in the maritime sector in the coming years.

SAAM Reaches the Mark of 69 Ships in Its Fleet with the Completion of the Acquisition of 21 Tugboats from Starnav

SAAM Towage Brazil, a leader in port, logistics, and tugboat services in the Americas, is about to further expand its prominent position in the market.

The company has just completed one of the largest transactions in its history by acquiring 21 tugboats from the Brazilian company Starnav.

With this acquisition, SAAM Towage Brazil will have a fleet of 69 vessels, becoming one of the largest and most efficient fleets in the country.

The purchase includes 19 tugboats that are already in operation and two that are in the final stages of construction.

This transaction is part of the company’s strategy to maintain its leadership in the tugboat industry and strengthen its presence in the Brazilian market.

According to the CEO, Macario Valdés, “With this closing, we will have one of the most efficient and modern fleets in the country, allowing us to also renew part of the current fleet”.

With the acquisition of the tugboats from Starnav, the company is preparing to further meet customer demands and ensure operational efficiency at ports across the country.

Starnav and SAAM Signed a US$ 198 Million Agreement for the Transaction of the New 21 Tugboats for the Multinational Fleet

The value of the transaction for the acquisition of Starnav’s assets was agreed at US$ 198 million, less the outstanding debt on the assets which will be deducted at closing.

This negotiation is one of the largest in SAAM Towage’s history and is part of the company’s strategy to lead the tugboat industry in Brazil.

With the addition of the new tugboats, SAAM Towage Brazil will have one of the largest and most efficient fleets in the country, with 69 vessels operating in 19 ports in the national market.

This represents an increase of over 40% in the size of the company’s fleet in Brazil, further strengthening its prominent position in the market.

SAAM Towage is recognized for the quality of its services, providing assistance in over 90 ports across the Americas and performing more than 140,000 maneuvers for 40,000 vessels each year.

The company has a fleet of over 210 tugboats operating in 14 countries, primarily in Central and South America, as well as on the West Coast of Canada.

With this transaction completed with Starnav, SAAM Towage further reinforces its commitment to offering customers high-quality and efficient services with its tugboats.
