The State Of Minas Gerais Will Receive A Large Portion Of Investments In Solar Power Plants
According to the managing partner of Safira Solar, Vinícius Ferreira, the state of Minas Gerais has already received the first photovoltaic solar power plant from the company and has three more under construction, which are expected to go into operation in the first quarter of next year, with investments of R$ 70 million. The already operational unit in Montes Claros was inaugurated in April, with 5 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity and already serves 534 consumers and 44 commercial clients across more than 200 cities in the state.
Meanwhile, the other photovoltaic solar power plants are being built in the municipality of Rio do Prado, in the Jequitinhonha Valley, with investments of R$ 50 million each and have a capacity of 2.5 MW. “With the three new plants, we will reach nearly 15,000 clients, generating their own energy sustainably in Minas Gerais. The distributed photovoltaic generation by Safira Solar is completely clean and contributes not only to combating global warming but also to the energy crisis we are facing today in Brazil,” he states.

Large Projects Using Solar Energy
The company’s executive did not provide many details about other solar power plant projects, stating that some still depend on approval from the national operator and funding sources. In this regard, he revealed that negotiations are being mediated by the Brazil-China Chamber to attract financing options from that country.
“The R$ 300 million is the minimum of what will be done by the company. In a total of 18 projects that are set to be approved by February 2022, if 7 are feasible, we will have R$ 300 million. But if we reach 10 or 12, we can talk about figures close to R$ 500 million,” he explained.
