Check The Rules For The 2025 Income Tax Declaration! Learn About New Exemption Limits, Tax Ranges, And Deadlines For The 2025 IRPF.

The Federal Revenue Service issued new rules for the Individual Income Tax Declaration (IRPF) 2025, which pertains to the 2024 calendar year, on Wednesday (12).

The RFB Normative Instruction No. 2,255 details the new exemption limits, tax ranges, and the schedule for submitting the declaration.

New Exemption Limits And Tax Ranges

The Federal Revenue Service updated the exemption ranges for the 2025 Income Tax Declaration. Taxpayers with monthly income of up to R$ 2,259.20 will be exempt from paying the tax.

For those with earnings above this amount, taxation varies according to the progressive table, which can reach 27.5% for income exceeding R$ 4,664.68 per month.

Increase In The Mandatory Declaration Limit

Another significant change for the 2025 Income Tax Declaration is the increase in the annual limit of taxable income that requires taxpayers to report to the tax authorities.

The amount has increased from R$ 30,639.90 to R$ 33,888.00. This update directly impacts salaried workers, freelancers, and other taxpayers who may now be exempt from the tax obligation.

Other Reference Values For The 2025 Income Tax

In addition to the changes in the tax rate table, other values have been updated for the 2025 Income Tax Declaration:

Tax-exempt pension income for taxpayers over 65 years old: R$ 1,903.98;

Monthly deduction per dependent: R$ 189.59;

Monthly limit for simplified deduction: R$ 564.80.

These values directly influence the calculation of the tax owed and can reduce the tax burden for taxpayers who meet these criteria.

Deadlines For Submitting The Income Tax Declaration And Penalties

The Federal Revenue Service’s program for filling out the 2025 Income Tax Declaration will be available for download starting this Thursday (13).

The income statements provided by employers can be sent to taxpayers starting Monday (17). The final deadline for submitting the declaration is May 30, 2025.

Taxpayers who do not submit the declaration on time will be subject to fines and registration restrictions.

The minimum penalty for late submission is R$ 165.74, which can reach up to 20% of the tax owed, plus interest calculated based on the Selic rate.

The Federal Revenue Service recommends that taxpayers carefully review the information before submitting the 2025 Income Tax Declaration.

Checking the values of the income statements and ensuring all data are correct can prevent inconsistencies that might lead the taxpayer to face issues.

Tips To Avoid Problems With Income Tax In The 2025 IRPF Declaration

To truly avoid errors and ensure the correct submission of the 2025 Income Tax Declaration, it is important to follow some best practices:

So thoroughly check your income statements: Make sure all paying sources sent the correct documents.

Review your deductible expenses: Include costs with health, education, and dependents to take advantage of allowed deductions.

Use the correct declaration model: Compare between the complete and simplified declarations to see which is more advantageous.

Keep track of your status on e-CAC: Regularly access the Federal Revenue Service portal to check if the declaration has been processed correctly.

So avoid leaving it until the last minute: Early submission reduces the chances of errors and overload on the Federal Revenue Service system.

With the new rules released by the Federal Revenue Service, the 2025 Income Tax Declaration indeed brings important changes for taxpayers.

The increase in the exemption limit and the update of the tax ranges truly represent advances in taxation, easing the tax burden for millions of Brazilians.

To truly avoid issues with the Federal Revenue Service, it is essential for taxpayers to organize their documentation, review the data, and submit the declaration on time.

Thus, it is possible to avoid fines and ensure the receipt of any refunds without complications.
