Enrollment is open for the 2nd class in the free electrician course offered by the Electrician School of Luz e Força Santa Maria in the state of Espírito Santo. The prerequisites to enroll in the free course are: To have completed high school; To reside in municipalities within the area of operation of Santa Maria – proof of residency is required (Santa Teresa, São Roque do Canaã, Colatina, Marilândia; Pancas, Alto Rio Novo; Águia Branca, São Domingos do Norte, Governador Lindenberg, São Gabriel da Palha, and Vila Valério); to be at least 18 years old; to be available for full-time study from 8 AM to 5 PM during the course period; to hold a minimum category “B” driver’s license.
The free course has a workload of 320 hours and lasts for 8 weeks. The aim of the course is to qualify and train professionals to work as Distribution Network Electricians.

NR35 – Working at Heights – Workload: 16 Hours
Topics to be covered in the free electrician course in Espírito Santo: Standards and regulations applicable to work at heights; Risk Analysis and impeditive conditions; Potential risks inherent to work at heights and prevention and control measures; Collective protection systems, equipment, and procedures; Personal Protective Equipment for working at heights: selection, inspection, conservation, and limitations on use; Typical accidents in work at heights; Conduct in emergency situations, including basic rescue and first aid techniques.
NR10 – Safety in Electricity Installations and Services – Workload: 40 Hours
Topics to be covered in the free electrician course in Espírito Santo: Introduction to Electrical Safety; Risks in Electricity Installations and Services; Risk Analysis Techniques; Brazilian Technical Standards – NBR of ABNT: NBR-5410, NBR 14039, and others; MTE regulations; Collective Protective Equipment; Personal Protective Equipment; Work routines – Procedures; Documentation of Electrical Installations; Additional Risks.
NR10 – Safety in Electricity Installations and Services (SEP) – Workload: 40 Hours
Topics to be covered in the free electrician course in Espírito Santo: Organization of the Electric Power System (SEP): Generation, Transmission, Sub-Transmission, and Distribution phases; Standardized voltage levels; Conditions that impede services; Typical risks in the SEP and their prevention: proximity and contact with energized parts; induction.
Maintenance and Operation of Electric Distribution Networks in Medium and Low Voltage Installations – Workload: 224 Hours
