The Geely Galaxy A7 EM-i Is a Plug-In Hybrid Sedan With 2,100 km of Combined Range, Greater Than the Toyota Corolla and Cheaper Than a Fiat Mobi. The Chinese Model May Arrive in Brazil Soon.

A plug-in hybrid sedan measuring over 4.90 meters long, an imposing design, 2,100 km of combined range, up to 38 km/l of estimated fuel consumption, and, astonishingly, a price lower than that of a Fiat Mobi. It may seem exaggerated, but this is the official proposal from Geely with the newly presented Galaxy A7 EM-i, a model that promises to shake up the global automotive market — and that may soon be sold in Brazil as well.

With production already confirmed in China, the Galaxy A7 represents more than just an efficient car. It signifies Geely’s new positioning in the international market: premium models at affordable prices, focusing on technology, sustainability, and bold design. And all of this, with dimensions that even surpass the traditional Toyota Corolla.

Geely Galaxy A7 EM-i: Plenty of Power With Up to 350 hp and Smart Plug-In Hybrid System

The Geely Galaxy A7 EM-i is a large sedan equipped with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system that combines a 1.5-liter combustion engine with 112 horsepower with an electric motor of 238 horsepower. Together, the two engines can deliver up to 350 hp with a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT).

Geely’s aim is to offer maximum efficiency with maximum performance. To achieve this, the Galaxy A7 will have battery options that can ensure:

  • 60 km of 100% electric range in the base version
  • 130 km of electric range in the version with higher capacity battery

Combining the energy sources, the car could achieve an impressive 2,100 km of total range — a figure that challenges any direct competitor in the world.

Moreover, the estimated average fuel consumption hovers around 38 km/l, a value that places the sedan among the most efficient models ever manufactured in the segment.

A Giant on Wheels: Bigger Than the Corolla in Every Dimension

The Galaxy A7 EM-i impresses not only with its engine but also with its dimensions. The model has:

  • 4.91 meters in length
  • 1.90 m in width
  • 1.49 m in height
  • 2.84 m wheelbase

For comparison, the Toyota Corolla — the best-selling sedan in Brazil — measures 4.63 m in length and 2.70 m in wheelbase. Thus, the Geely Galaxy A7 is significantly larger, offering more interior space, comfort for passengers, and greater trunk capacity.

This feature makes the model particularly interesting for families, rideshare drivers, and even for executive use.

Modern Design and Attention-Grabbing Details

In terms of design, the Galaxy A7 adopts the contemporary Chinese visual standard, with flowing lines, an aerodynamic front, and a well-defined visual identity.

At the front, the LED headlights are sharp and integrated into the grille, creating an aggressive and techy look. The lower grille features air intakes in a “C” shape, reinforcing the sportiness. At the rear, highlights include the also LED taillights, integrated and horizontal, which span the entire width of the vehicle — a detail that harkens back to the premium finish of luxury models.

The interior has not been officially revealed yet, but it is expected that the model will have:

  • 100% digital dashboard
  • Floating screen multimedia center
  • Voice commands and 5G connectivity
  • Refined finishes with high-quality synthetic materials

What Will It Cost? Cheaper Than the Fiat Mobi

Perhaps the biggest shock will come from the estimated price. According to the Chinese press, the price of the Galaxy A7 EM-i in the local market is expected to be around US$ 14,000 — equivalent to R$ 79,611 at direct conversion.

This amount is less than that of a Fiat Mobi Like 1.0, which is currently sold in Brazil starting at R$ 79,990. For a model that offers superior size, hybrid engine of up to 350 hp, and 2,100 km of range, the comparison is surprising.

Of course, in the case of importation to Brazil, there would be added taxes and fees. But even with taxes, the Galaxy A7 could arrive for less than half the price of direct competitors like the BYD Seal, Toyota Corolla Altis Hybrid, or JAC e-J7.

Geely Wants to Return to Brazil — and Now with Strength

Geely has previously had a timid presence in Brazil, with models like the GC2 and the EC7 sedan. However, these vehicles did not succeed due to a sparse dealer network, weak after-sales service, and lack of compatibility with the Brazilian consumer profile at the time.

Now, the scenario is different. The brand has already introduced the EX5 electric SUV to the country and currently shares logistics and distribution structure with Renault, which reduces costs and facilitates national operations.

With the growing interest in electric and hybrid vehicles in Brazil — spurred by state incentives, reduced IPVA policies, and emissions restriction zones — Geely intends to take advantage of this new moment in the national market to reposition itself as an affordable, technological, and sustainable brand.

The arrival of the Galaxy A7 could be the first step of this new phase.

Larger Hybrid Sedan Than the Corolla: Comparison With Brazilian Rivals

The Galaxy A7 EM-i arrives to compete with models from various segments in Brazil. See how it positions itself against the main sedans and hybrids in the market:

Model Engine Length Electric Range Price (R$)
Geely Galaxy A7 EM-i Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) 4.91 m up to 130 km ~R$ 79 thousand (*)
Toyota Corolla Altis Hybrid Conventional Hybrid 4.63 m Not applicable R$ 182,590
BYD Seal 100% Electric 4.80 m 500+ km (electric) R$ 299,800
Fiat Mobi Like 1.0 Combustion 3.57 m Not applicable R$ 79,990

* estimated value based on direct conversion from the Chinese press, excluding taxes

What impresses most about the Galaxy A7 EM-i is its relationship between technology, space, consumption, and price. It is uncommon to find a vehicle that:

  • Has up to 350 hp of combined power
  • Offers 2,100 km of range
  • Provides an estimated consumption of 38 km/l
  • Is bigger than the Corolla in all dimensions
  • And still has a price close to entry-level popular cars

This combination makes the Galaxy A7 one of the biggest promises in the global hybrid sedan segment — and a potential revolution if officially sold in Brazil.

Challenges for Entering the Brazilian Market

Despite all its potential, the model will face significant challenges to conquer the national market, such as:

  • The need for charging infrastructure for plug-in hybrids
  • The adaptation of the model to Brazilian road networks, fuels, and climatic conditions
  • Establishment of a reliable after-sales network
  • Positioning with a still traditional audience in the sedan segment

However, with the advancement of electrification and the increasing demand for efficiency, the scenario is much more favorable now than it was ten years ago — and Geely seems to be aware of this.

The Geely Galaxy A7 EM-i is not just another Chinese launch. It represents a new mobility proposal: efficient, technological, spacious, and accessible. With unprecedented range, an estimated consumption of 38 km/l, modern styling, and a price lower than that of 1.0 cars, it has everything to turn the tide in the sedan segment in Brazil and worldwide.

If it does enter the national market, the A7 promises to keep established brands awake at night — and provide Brazilian consumers with a large, modern car that is far more efficient than any combustion competitor.
