Thousands Of Free English And Spanish Courses Are Being Offered By The State Language Centers (CEIs) In Partnership With SEDU
The State Department of Education (Sedu) is offering more than 6,000 spots in free English and Spanish courses for students in the public network of ES. The main idea is that students enrolled in the 1st or 2nd year of high school in the state network participate and have access to their first professional training in the language market as soon as they finish high school.

Enrollment Guide For Free Spanish And English Courses Available In ES
To register, high school candidates must access the announcement and carefully read all the detailed information. In the announcement provided by SEDU, there is all the information regarding the campuses where the in-person classes will take place, the number of spots per class, and the location and start date of the classes.
In total, 18 municipalities in SC will be covered by the free language courses. Access this site to register. It is worth noting that of the total spots listed in the announcement table, the number available will follow the distribution of 60% for broad competition, 30% for Black, Mixed-Race, and Indigenous People (PPI), and 10% for People with Disabilities (PwD).

The State Department of Education (Sedu) emphasizes that the enrollment of students with disabilities will only be completed upon presentation of a medical report, certifying the type and degree of disability at the time of enrollment.
Understand How Candidate Selection Will Work In ES
For the selection of candidates for the free language courses in ES, SEDU stated that it will take the following parameters into account:
- The student applying must have completed the final years of elementary school (6th to 9th grade), or equivalent, in a public school – assigned score: 20
- Be enrolled in the 1st or 2nd year of high school in the state network in 2022 – assigned score: 30
- Be registered in CadÚnico – assigned score: 30
- Reside in a region covered by the State Present Program in Defense of Life – assigned score: 20
The results of the selected candidates to participate in the free English and Spanish courses from SEDU will be announced through the institution’s website on March 25 at 5 PM. The student will have the right to compete for only one of the spots in the offered Foreign Language class, either English or Spanish, not being able to switch courses.
