Thousands of free English and Spanish courses are being offered by State Language Centers (CEIs) in partnership with SEDU
The Secretary of State for Education (Sedu) is offering more than 6 places in free English and Spanish courses for students in the ES public network. The main idea is that students who are enrolled in the 1st or 2nd grade of high school in the state network participate and have access to their first professional training in the language market as soon as they finish high school.

Enrollment guide for free Spanish and English courses available in ES
To apply, high school applicants must: access the notice and carefully read all the detailed information. In the announcement made available by SEDU, there is all the information regarding the campus where the face-to-face classes will take place, number of vacancies per class in location and date of beginning of the classes.
In total, 18 municipalities in SC will benefit from free language courses. Access this site to register.. It is worth noting that of the total number of vacancies in the notice table, the amount made available will follow the distribution of 60% for broad competition, 30% for Blacks, Browns and Indigenous People (PPI), 10% for People with Disabilities (PwD).
The Secretary of State for Education (Sedu) points out that the enrollment of students with disabilities will only be effected upon presentation of a medical report, attesting the type and degree of disability at the time of enrollment.
Understand how the selection of candidates in ES will work
For the selection of candidates in the free language courses of the ES, SEDU highlighted that it will take the following parameters into account:
- The student who applies must have attended the final years of elementary school (6th to 9th grade), or equivalent, in a public school – score awarded: 20
- Be enrolled in the 1st or 2nd grade of high school in the state network in 2022 – assigned score: 30
- Be registered in CadÚnico) – score assigned: 30
- Living in a region served by the Present State in Defense of Life Program – score awarded: 20
The results of candidates selected to participate in free English and Spanish courses at Sedu will be released through the institution's website on March 25th at 17 pm. The student will have the right to compete for only one of the vacancies in the Foreign Language class offered, English Language or Spanish Language, not being able to migrate/change courses.
