Works on the Second Conventional Submarine at ICN in Itaguaí Are Going Strong, and This Time It Was the Turn of the Second Section to Be Transferred from the Structure Factory to the ICN Shipyard, Both in Itaguaí.

Last Wednesday, May 29, the ground transfer operation of the second of the four sections of the second submarine of PROSUB was carried out, which will be transported from UFEM to the Shipbuilding Yard of the Naval Complex of Itaguaí, ICN, in Rio de Janeiro.

ICN, Itaguaí Naval Constructions, is the company responsible for building the four conventional submarines and also the first nuclear-powered submarine designed and manufactured in Brazil.
Both projects are part of the Submarine Program (PROSUB), which is a Brazil-France cooperation agreement that includes technology transfer and workforce training in France.

On 04/25, Click Petroleum and Gas had already published the transfer of the first section of the Humaitá submarine (S-BR2), the second submarine of PROSUB (Submarine Development Program) of the Brazilian Navy.

At ICN, the structure will receive the installation of sensors and equipment and all union work to the other sections that must be completed and also transferred by the end of June this year will be done.

PROSUB

PROSUB provides for the construction of four conventional propulsion submarines (Diesel-electric) and one Nuclear propulsion submarine, the first of its kind to be manufactured in Brazil.
The Humaitá is the second of the four and is expected to be ready by the end of 2022.

The first submarine of the program was launched on December 14 of last year and was named Riachuelo (S40), and its sea trial is scheduled for this year.
The sea trial for the Humaitá (S-41) is planned for 2020, Tonelero (S42) in 2021, and Angostura (S43) in 2022.

The last submarine to be completed will be the (SN-BR), which will be named “Álvaro Alberto,” in honor of the Brazilian Admiral who was a pioneer in the use of nuclear technology in the country.
