Gas Distributors in the Central-South Region of the Country Are Bidding for a Large Volume of Gas, and Petrobras Is Competing with Six Other Major Companies
The gas distributors in the Central-South region of the country, MSGás from Mato Grosso do Sul, Gas Brasiliano from São Paulo, Compagas from Paraná, SCGás from Santa Catarina, and Sulgás from Rio Grande do Sul, are bidding for a total volume of 10 million cubic meters per day. This is proof that the gas market is booming, and see the investment that the company sold by Petrobras is making in the Southeast.
All the distributors mentioned above are supplied by the Bolivia-Brazil pipeline (Gasbol), and the start of supply, according to the bidding notice, is scheduled for 2020.

The bidding is in the final stages of the second phase of the joint public call, and as soon as the proposals are compared and analyzed, the state concessions will move on to the third phase.
Then, the stage that involves direct negotiations between distributors and competing companies will begin, where the specific details for each region will be negotiated.
The Competitors
Petrobras will have six strong competitors in the battle for distribution in the Central-South region in the coming years. In the case of the bids from MSGás, Gas Brasiliano, Sulgás, and Compagas, Petrobras will be accompanied by Shell, Total, and the Bolivian YPFB, who have progressed to the third phase.
Regarding the Sulgás bidding, the three companies along with Petrobras will be joined by the Spanish Repsol and Golar Power, specialized in LNG.
As for Gas Brasiliano, the one that moved to the third phase was Cocal Energia, aiming to supply biomethane.
It is worth remembering that the government launched the new gas market program and expects, along with Petrobras, many external investments in distribution.
