Decommissioning of a Petrobras Vessel
The consortium Decom Ambiental, composed of local companies SA Ambiental, SB2 Engineering, and Plamont Engenharia, along with the São Paulo-based Litucera and the Rio de Janeiro-based Sanfreire, won Lot A (flexible lines). It emerged victorious in the bidding for the Decommissioning of the ALSUB (Submarine Warehouse) of Petrobras, and according to the website Tribuna Online, the project is expected to open 115 direct jobs and another 300 indirect jobs.
This operation to be carried out in the state of Espírito Santo involves removing the submarine system from an oil and gas platform. Hugo Marques, director of SB2 Engineering Services, explains that operational mobilization should occur starting in January or February 2022, but hiring some professionals and acquiring or renting large machines (cranes, trucks, forklifts, for example), in addition to constructing (or renting) areas, offices, and sites is expected to begin in September, considering that the contract with Petrobras will be signed in the next 45 days.

The Job Opportunities That Will Be Generated by the Project in the State of Espírito Santo
Hugo emphasizes that a project planning and management company will be hired and will be responsible for the job vacancies and other services. “Salaries will depend on each position, but range from R$ 5,000 to R$ 35,000.” The director of SB2 Engineering Services also states that availability and commitment, as well as fluent English for engineering and technical positions, will be desirable profiles during the hiring for job opportunities in Espírito Santo.
“The decommissioning project of the ALSUB from Petrobras is an activity that opens up a significant business front in Brazil. Not only because of the scale (69,000 tons of material will be removed), but also because of the uniqueness of this project, given that until today, no removals of submarine systems have been conducted in our country,” comments Hugo.
