Strategic Expansion Drives Defense Technology and Generates Jobs in São José dos Campos

On September 2, 2025, the Brazilian company SIATT and the international group Edge inaugurated a new headquarters in São José dos Campos, in the state of São Paulo.

The facility is focused on the development of high-tech defense systems and cutting-edge engineering.

The new complex covers six thousand square meters and includes laboratories, advanced engineering areas, and complete production lines.

This milestone represents a significant advancement for the national defense sector and reinforces Brazil’s role in the global defense landscape.

With this, the country takes a decisive step to consolidate itself as a strategic hub for military technology and national security.

Unit Boosts Missile Production with National Technology

The inauguration ceremony was attended by strategic authorities and representatives from the national and international defense sector.

Present were Hamad Al Marar, CEO of Edge; Felício Ramuth, Vice Governor of São Paulo; and Admiral Marcos Sampaio Olsen, Commander of the Brazilian Navy.

The new headquarters is the result of robust investments made since 2023, when Edge acquired a 50% stake in SIATT.

Since then, Edge has invested approximately R$ 3 billion in the country, expanding its presence in Brazilian territory.

Edge, based in Abu Dhabi, seeks more than just commercial partnerships and has advocated for long-term agreements and technology transfer.

In 2025, a contract was signed between SIATT and the Navy for the joint development and production of missiles.

The agreement covers the MANSUP, National Anti-Ship Missile, and its long-range version known as MANSUP-ER.

The partnership provides for the sharing of intellectual property, with the possibility of customization, manufacturing, and export of the equipment.

In addition, the royalties from international production return to the Brazilian Navy as part of the signed agreement.

Strategy Aims to Consolidate Technological Independence and Generate Jobs

The new SIATT headquarters also directly contributes to job creation in the São José dos Campos region.

The expectation is that the project will create 200 direct jobs and 600 indirect opportunities.

In addition to the headquarters, SIATT is finalizing the construction of a new factory focused on the development of explosives.

This expansion enhances the national defense production chain, positively impacting the industry and the regional economy.

With this, Brazil strengthens its autonomous capacity to develop strategic products and national security technologies.

The initiative also promotes innovation in engineering, advanced materials, and military systems logistics.

This is an industrial policy that prioritizes sovereignty and knowledge generation on Brazilian soil.

Brazil-UAE Cooperation Highlights Technological Partnership Model

Edge reinforces its operations in Brazil based on long-term cooperation and technology transfer.

According to the company, the goal is to establish a real partnership with the country, and not merely to create isolated commercial relations.

The choice of São José dos Campos emphasizes the technological vocation of the municipality and its role in the aerospace sector.

SIATT highlights that the collaboration with the Navy establishes a new standard for joint development between government and industry.

With access to intellectual property, Brazil gains flexibility to adapt, test, and market missiles in different markets.

The prospect of exporting the systems also strengthens the economic balance of the national industry.

The strategy seeks to ensure financial returns to the State and stimulate new international defense contracts.

National Defense Gains Strength with International Investment and Local Innovation

The set of initiatives reveals a clear strategic alignment between the government, the national industry, and foreign investors, which strengthens the technological base of the sector.

Meanwhile, Edge acts as a long-term partner and thus directly contributes to driving technological advancement in the defense sector in Brazil.

Moreover, the focus on autonomy, innovation, and local production significantly increases the resilience of the defense industrial base, favoring national sovereignty.

On the other hand, the combination of national technical knowledge and foreign capital consolidates Brazil’s leadership and strengthens its geopolitical presence in the defense sector.

At the same time, job creation and knowledge transfer contribute to the economic development of the region, although they also bring positive long-term social impacts.

In this way, the partnership established between SIATT, Edge, and the Navy is not just a contract, but rather a strategic alliance of State with lasting objectives.

Finally, with this strategy, Brazil reinforces its geopolitical position and thus sends the world the message that it can lead with technology and independence.
