The entity highlighted that 92 employees of Repar are infected with Covid-19. The information was released during the week by the Araucária city hall.
“This confirms that the measures adopted by the company to combat the pandemic are insufficient. A shutdown for sanitizing the facilities, new mass testing is necessary, as many infected workers interact with untested individuals during shift changes or in shared areas, in addition to the disclosure of detailed reports on the health crisis at Repar,” the union demands.
Petrobras responded, in a statement, that “it has not spared efforts to face the pandemic.” “In addition to extensive testing, it has implemented measures such as rigorous sanitization of facilities, use of masks, and a reduction of on-site work by about 90% in administrative areas and 50% in operational areas performing essential activities,” it informs.
According to Petrobras, within a universe of more than 46,500 employees, 217 workers (excluding contractors) are infected with the coronavirus, they are under treatment. “All are monitored by health teams from Petrobras, and the company works with service providers to also monitor their employees. The company does not disclose numbers by unit,” the statement continues.
In an interview with Gazeta do Povo on Saturday (6), Sindipetro director Alexandro Guilherme Jorge said that the workers “are very concerned” and that Repar has not been fully transparent about the number of infections at the unit. He recalls that, only at Repar, there are about 700 direct employees of Petrobras and approximately 1,000 contractors. Among the 92 identified Covid-19 cases, it is unknown how many are direct employees and how many are contractors.
