Swiss Authorities Reveal How Many Foreign Workers Will Be Needed To Work In 2023

The quota for qualified foreign workers that will be needed in the country in 2023 has been set by the Swiss authorities, as was done to fill job vacancies in 2022. Qualified employees must come from countries that are not part of the European Union and have permission to reside in the country, with their documentation in hand and valid.

The number of workers needed was announced last week during a meeting of the Federal Council of Switzerland, according to the website vagaspelomundo.com. At this meeting, the decision was made that the country could receive up to 8,500 qualified workers from third countries in 2023.

How Long Can Foreign Workers Live In Switzerland?

The Swiss Federal Council stated that, of the 8,500 workers to be received, 4,500 nationals from third countries can be recruited with a B residence permit and another 4,000 with a short-term L residence permit. However, only 3,500 of the workers will be able to stay in Switzerland for a short period (between 90 and 120 days), and the very low number of 500 people will actually be able to reside in the country.

What Is It Like To Work And Live In Switzerland?

Switzerland admits workers from third countries to help strengthen and stabilize different economic sectors, as the population of the country is becoming increasingly elderly, which creates a need for young labor for the country. With a quick search, it is evident that finding a job in Switzerland is much easier than one might think. The country is generally welcoming to foreigners and has a large number of job openings, especially in the Information Technology sector.

The dream of living in Switzerland has various justifications. The country is recognized for the high quality of life its residents enjoy, its excellence in education and environmental preservation, as well as offering great salaries for those dreaming of working there. And the advantages don’t stop there: Switzerland is located in the heart of Europe, meaning one can catch a flight and reach incredible countries like France, Germany, and Italy in just one hour!
