Swiss Authorities Reveal How Many Foreign Workers Will Be Needed To Work In 2023
The quota for qualified foreign workers that will be needed in the country in 2023 has been set by the Swiss authorities, as was done to fill job vacancies in 2022. Qualified employees must come from countries that are not part of the European Union and have permission to reside in the country, with their documentation in hand and valid.
The number of workers needed was announced last week during a meeting of the Federal Council of Switzerland, according to the website vagaspelomundo.com. At this meeting, the decision was made that the country could receive up to 8,500 qualified workers from third countries in 2023.
How Long Can Foreign Workers Live In Switzerland?
The Swiss Federal Council stated that, of the 8,500 workers to be received, 4,500 nationals from third countries can be recruited with a B residence permit and another 4,000 with a short-term L residence permit. However, only 3,500 of the workers will be able to stay in Switzerland for a short period (between 90 and 120 days), and the very low number of 500 people will actually be able to reside in the country.
