Stellantis Starts Production of the New Citroën Basalt in Porto Real, Promising Modern Design, Turbo Engine, and Competitive Prices for the National Market.

The Stellantis is ready to shake up the Brazilian market with the launch of its newest model: the Citroën Basalt. Production of the coupe SUV began this Wednesday, the 18th, at the Porto Real (RJ) factory, and the vehicle is set to be one of the most affordable coupe SUVs in Brazil. This is the third model in the C-Cubed family, which already includes the hatch C3 and the SUV C3 Aircross, consolidating the brand in the compact car and SUV segment.

If you are a fan of Citroën or are thinking about changing cars, keep an eye on this launch because it comes packed with news, updated design, and a flex turbo engine that has already proven its worth in other Stellantis models. Let’s take a closer look at everything the Citroën Basalt has to offer!

Production of the Citroën Basalt Begins in Porto Real

The Porto Real factory, located in Rio de Janeiro, is already a well-known player when it comes to producing successful models from Stellantis. Since 2001, over 1 million vehicles from the Peugeot and Citroën brands have rolled off this production line, and the Citroën Basalt is the newest member of this family. It will be produced alongside models such as the C4 Cactus, C3, and the recently launched C3 Aircross.

This launch marks the end of the current cycle of investments from Stellantis, but the group has already confirmed that it will continue to invest heavily in the Rio factory. Between 2025 and 2030, the plant will receive R$ 3 billion for the production of new models, including a groundbreaking hybrid technology vehicle, which may indicate that Stellantis is focused on a more sustainable future for its vehicles.

What We Already Know About the Citroën Basalt

Although Citroën has not yet disclosed all the specifications of the Basalt, we already have some interesting information. The coupe SUV will use the 1.0 flex turbo engine, the same one that powers other models from Stellantis, such as the Fiat PulseFastback, and Peugeot 208. This engine delivers 125 hp with gasoline and 130 hp with ethanol, along with a torque of 200 Nm, ensuring good performance both in the city and on the highway.

In terms of transmission, the Citroën Basalt will come with a CVT automatic transmission, simulating 7 gears, providing a smooth and efficient driving experience. This means you can expect a comfortable driving experience, with progressive acceleration and optimized fuel consumption, something that Stellantis SUVs already do very well.

Versions and Prices

According to leaks, the Citroën Basalt is expected to hit the market in three versions: LiveShine, and Feel. The Live version will be the most affordable, with a 1.0 Firefly engine producing 75 hp and a 5-speed manual transmission. The Shine and Feel versions will feature the 1.0 flex turbo engine producing 130 hp and 200 Nm, paired with the CVT transmission.

The prices for the coupe SUV are expected to range between R$ 90,000 and R$ 130,000, making the Basalt one of the cheapest SUVs in the Brazilian market. This price range, coupled with the possibility of more equipped versions with advanced technologies and appealing design, promises to position the Citroën Basalt as a favorite for those seeking a modern SUV with good value for money.

Design and Technology

The Citroën Basalt will follow the visual identity of the C-Cubed family, with many design elements inherited from the C3 Aircross. The front of the vehicle features split LED headlights, while the side will have a coupe slope starting from the “B” pillar, giving that sporty look that many people love.

Depending on the version, the Basalt will have alloy wheels or hubcaps, in addition to horizontal rear lights that give a modern touch to the car. Inside, the SUV is expected to follow the standard of finishing of the C3 and C3 Aircross models, with a 7-inch digital panel and a 10.3-inch multimedia center. Oh, and the digital air conditioning is another novelty that should please Brazilian drivers.

The Coupe SUV That Promises to Shake the Market

The Citroën Basalt arrives to complete the C-Cubed line from the French brand and promises to be the most affordable coupe SUV in Brazil. With a modern design, efficient engine, and competitive prices, the expectation is that the model will attract both those looking for a practical car for daily use and those who want a vehicle with a sporty look.

Stellantis continues to show that it is committed to investing heavily in Brazil, both with new models and with more advanced technologies, such as electrification and sustainable mobility. The Basalt is just the beginning of what is to come, as the Porto Real factory is expected to continue being the scene for major launches in the coming years.

With the production of the Citroën Basalt already underway, it’s clear that Stellantis is betting on the success of this coupe SUV in Brazil. The model has everything to stand out in the market, from its bold design to its versions with affordable prices. If you are thinking about changing cars, it is worth waiting for the launch in the coming weeks to get to know all the versions and purchase conditions up close.
