Selection process expands access to public higher education with vacancies distributed in regional centers, multiple forms of entry, and a defined schedule for 2026.2, requiring attention to deadlines, modalities, and in-person requirements throughout the academic training.

With registrations open, the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro offers 1,235 vacancies in undergraduate courses through the CEDERJ Entrance Exam 2026.2, aimed at admission in the second academic semester of 2026, with options that combine remote teaching and mandatory in-person activities.

Until May 17, interested parties can register by paying R$ 95.50, while the selection process allows entry through either the Enem score or its own exam, which is scheduled for June 14, 2026, according to the official schedule released.

Among the available options are degrees in Biological Sciences, Physics, and Chemistry, offered in a semi-presential format, in addition to the bachelor’s degree in Accounting Sciences, structured mostly at a distance, with reduced in-person requirements compared to other degrees.

According to the distribution presented in the announcement, there are 356 vacancies for Biological Sciences, 320 for Physics, 219 for Chemistry, and 340 for Accounting Sciences, a composition that consolidates the total offered by UFRJ within the CEDERJ consortium in this edition.

Even with a predominance of online activities, the adopted model maintains in-person requirements throughout the training, especially for evaluations and specific academic activities conducted at the regional centers distributed throughout the state of Rio de Janeiro.

In this context, the announcement emphasizes that all courses include mandatory in-person activities, usually concentrated on weekends, which requires prior organization from students regarding travel and availability throughout the academic period.

While the degrees follow minimum in-person rules defined by educational legislation, the courses classified as distance learning must also fulfill part of the workload in in-person meetings or synchronous activities mediated by technology.

Regional centers and distribution of vacancies in RJ

Spread across different regions of the state, the vacancies expand access to public higher education by reaching municipalities outside the capital, benefiting candidates who depend on local centers for mandatory in-person activities.

As detailed in the announcement, there are offerings in cities such as Angra dos Reis, Belford Roxo, Campo Grande, Duque de Caxias, Itaperuna, Macaé, Miracema, Nova Iguaçu, Paracambi, Petrópolis, Piraí, Resende, Rocinha, São Gonçalo, Três Rios, and Volta Redonda, depending on the chosen course.

In the case of Biological Sciences, the vacancies are distributed in centers such as Angra dos Reis, Campo Grande, Duque de Caxias, Nova Iguaçu, Piraí, Três Rios, and Volta Redonda, ensuring relevant territorial coverage within the state.

The Physics course appears in units such as Angra dos Reis, Campo Grande, Duque de Caxias, Itaperuna, Macaé, Nova Iguaçu, Paracambi, São Gonçalo, Três Rios, and Volta Redonda, expanding the choices for candidates.

For Chemistry, the distribution includes centers in Angra dos Reis, Nova Iguaçu, Petrópolis, Piraí, and São Gonçalo, while Accounting Sciences covers locations such as Belford Roxo, Miracema, Paracambi, Petrópolis, Resende, Rocinha, and São Gonçalo.

Who can register for CEDERJ 2026.2

Eligible candidates are those who have completed high school or are in the final stages of completion by the time of enrollment, adhering to the criteria established in the announcement for validating the required documentation.

Additionally, the selection observes the legal prohibition of simultaneous enrollment in vacancies at public higher education institutions, a rule provided in federal legislation and applied to all approved candidates.

Regarding the access modalities, the announcement establishes a division between open competition and affirmative actions, with different criteria organizing the occupation of the vacancies offered by the university.

In this scenario, UFRJ reserves 30% of the vacancies for Enem candidates in affirmative action, 30% for Enem in open competition, 10% for public school teachers, and 30% for open competition via traditional entrance exam.

Additional criteria are also considered within the affirmative actions, including family income, school origin, and self-declaration, according to current legal guidelines for inclusion policies in public higher education.

Enem or entrance exam: how the selection works

For those who choose to use the Enem score, the editions of 2023, 2024, or 2025 are accepted, with classification based on the average of the tests, respecting the criteria defined in the announcement for each modality.

Unlike other selection processes, UFRJ establishes priority in the occupation of vacancies by the descending order of the exam editions, regardless of the score obtained in each of them.

Another important point is that candidates registered as trainees in the Enem cannot compete in this modality, according to a rule expressly stated in the official document of the selection process.

The announcement of results for candidates using the Enem score is scheduled for May 29, 2026, marking the first classification stage of the entrance exam.

If not selected in this phase, candidates may still participate in the own exam, provided they pay the fee within the additional deadline specified in the official calendar.

For these specific cases, the announcement sets the maximum payment deadline until June 1, 2026, ensuring continuity in the competition for vacancies via the entrance exam.

With the exam scheduled for June 14, 2026, it will be held in the morning, lasting a total of three hours, with the gates closing at 9:50 AM, according to the published guidelines.

The evaluation includes an objective test and a discursive-argumentative essay, forming the basis for the final score used in the classification of candidates.

In the objective block, participants face 45 multiple-choice questions, distributed among subjects such as Portuguese Language, Brazilian Literature, foreign language, Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Geography, and History.

The specific areas vary according to the chosen course, directing the weight of the subjects according to the training intended by the candidate.

For Biological Sciences, the emphasis is on Biology and Chemistry, while Physics prioritizes Mathematics and Physics, and Chemistry focuses the evaluation on this discipline.

In the case of Accounting Sciences, the specific areas involve History and Mathematics, composing the evaluation structure defined in the announcement.

The final score results from the combination of performance in the objective test and in the essay, following criteria previously established for each course and entry modality.

How the routine works in EAD and semi-presential courses

Throughout the undergraduate program, students participate in activities mediated by digital platforms, combined with mandatory in-person meetings at regional centers, which characterizes the hybrid model adopted by the consortium.

In the Biological Sciences course, for example, in addition to in-person evaluations, there is a requirement for practical activities related to academic training, expanding the experience beyond the virtual environment.

In the case of degrees, the supervised internship is part of the training and follows specific guidelines for teacher preparation, requiring compliance with workload in educational environments.

Although Accounting Sciences is offered at a distance, the course also maintains minimum in-person requirements and synchronous activities, ensuring alignment with current educational regulations.

In total, the CEDERJ Entrance Exam 2026.2 brings together 7,505 vacancies in public institutions in the state of Rio de Janeiro, with significant participation from UFRJ in this total.

How to register for the CEDERJ Entrance Exam 2026.2

Registrations must be made exclusively online, through the official CEDERJ system, within the deadline established in the selection process calendar.

To confirm participation, it is necessary to fill out the electronic form and make the payment of the fee of R$ 95.50 by the indicated deadline, respecting the deadlines defined in the announcement.

Candidates who initially opt for the Enem and are not classified may continue in the selection through the own exam, provided they make the payment within the additional period specified.

This supplementary deadline extends until June 1, 2026, ensuring the possibility of remaining in the selection process even after the announcement of the results of the stage based on the national exam.

With the schedule already underway, keeping track of the dates for registration, payment, exams, and results becomes an essential step for those looking to secure one of the vacancies offered by UFRJ in the CEDERJ system.
