Technical courses at IFES Campus Serra
By opting for the integrated model, students develop high school competencies in parallel with technical training, eliminating the need for additional courses after completing the basic stage and expanding professional insertion possibilities early on.
While the Internet Computing course directs learning towards the development of systems and web applications, the Mechatronics program combines content related to industrial automation, electronics, and mechanical systems, areas directly connected to technological and industrial advancement.
In addition to the curricular proposal, the concentrated offer at the Serra Campus reinforces the unit’s role in regional technical training, especially in sectors that require qualified labor and constant updating in the face of technological and productive transformations.
Who can register for IFES 2026
To compete for one of the vacancies, it is necessary to have completed elementary school by the date of enrollment, although the process also accepts candidates who are finishing the 9th grade, provided they prove completion within the deadline established by the institution.
Following the current legislation for federal institutions, half of the vacancies are reserved for students from public schools, with subdivisions that consider income criteria, in addition to cuts aimed at black, brown, indigenous, quilombola candidates, and people with disabilities.
This affirmative action system seeks to expand access to public and free technical education, ensuring diversity in the student profile and meeting national guidelines for democratizing education in federal professional education institutions.
Objective test of IFES in June
The selection will be carried out through an objective test composed of 40 multiple-choice questions, covering content from Portuguese Language, Mathematics, Sciences, History, and Geography, scheduled for June 14, 2026 in the afternoon.
According to official guidelines, candidates must arrive at the location well in advance, as the test begins at 2 PM, with no provision for a second call, making attendance at the established time an indispensable condition for participation in the process.
Another relevant point is the possibility of choosing the municipality where the test will be held at the time of registration, although the institution informs that, in cases of high demand, candidates may be directed to locations close to the initially indicated one.
Technical courses and the job market
In a scenario of technological transformation and expansion of industrial sectors, courses such as Internet Computing and Mechatronics tend to concentrate greater demand, mainly because they offer training aligned with the current needs of the job market.
The integration of high school and technical qualification contributes to students completing this stage already prepared to enter the productive sector or continue in higher education in the same area, expanding possibilities for academic and professional trajectories.
Furthermore, the public and free nature of the training reinforces interest in the selection process, especially among families seeking quality recognized educational alternatives with a focus on employability in the medium term.
