The 2026 Subaru Outback Gets a True SUV Look

The 2026 Subaru Outback looks like it has been working out: it gained 5 cm in height, wide front grilles, and plastic protections on the sides – perfect so it doesn’t scrape on dirt roads. The Wilderness version is the most rugged, with thick tires, yellow details, and even a bike rack. And the roof bars? They can hold 220 kg in motion, ideal for carrying a kayak or camping gear.

No-Nonsense Interior

Back to basics! Subaru listened to everyone and replaced the touch screen with physical buttons to control the air conditioning – you can even use it while wearing gloves. The trunk now has 34.6 cubic feet (almost 1 m³), 2 feet more than the old model. And the best part: noise-proof materials make the cabin quieter than a library.

Turbo Engine and 4×4 Drive

There are two engine options for the 2026 Subaru Outback:

2.5L 4 Cylinders: 180 hp (weak, but economical).
2.4L Turbo: 260 hp (the same as the current XT version, for those wanting acceleration).
Both come with a CVT transmission and standard 4×4 drive. The steering has been adjusted to be firmer, and the AWD system promises to improve in curves.

Top Safety

The EyeSight system got an upgrade: wider camera, faster processor, and even an “emergency mode.” If the driver does not react, the car brakes by itself, turns on the hazard lights, and moves to the shoulder. The adaptive cruise control now works up to 137 km/h – great for long trips.

Price and Competitors

The estimated price ranges from US$ 32,000 to US$ 44,000. In the competition with Honda Passport and Toyota 4Runner, the 2026 Subaru Outback stands out for its interior space and technology. It will hit North American dealerships in late 2025.
