The Project Will Include a Training Service for FAB Pilots for Future Operations. The Installation of the Gripen E Fighter Jet Flight Simulation Equipment by Saab Marks Another Investment in the Domestic Market.
Aiming at the Brazilian market, Saab, the Swedish defense and security company, recently announced the installation of the first flight simulation equipment for the Gripen E fighter jet at the Anápolis Air Base in Goiás. This new development represents a significant advancement in the training of pilots from the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) who will operate the aircraft. With an investment of R$ 200 million, the simulation equipment was manufactured in Linköping, Sweden, and transported by ship to the port of Santos.

São Paulo surprises the world with a colossal railway network project that promises over 1,000 km of tracks, R$ 194 billion in investments, and 40 projects connecting the capital to the interior with fast and sustainable trains.
It is equipped with cutting-edge technology, such as an image generation system that uses 14 laser projectors to create a high-resolution and realistic virtual environment.
The installation of the flight simulation equipment is an important milestone for the development program of the Gripen E in Brazil.
According to Saab, the choice of the Anápolis Air Base as the seat of the simulation equipment reinforces the company’s commitment to contributing to the modernization of the Brazilian Armed Forces. For the FAB, the simulation equipment represents an important resource for training and qualifying its pilots.
With the Gripen E flight simulation equipment installed at the Anápolis Air Base, FAB pilots will have access to an advanced and comprehensive training tool. The simulation equipment can faithfully reproduce the flight characteristics of the fighter jet, allowing pilots to practice maneuvers and air combat situations in a safe and controlled environment.
In addition, the simulation equipment also allows pilots to practice emergency procedures, such as emergency landings and ejections, without the risks and costs associated with real flights.
This way, the FAB will be able to train its pilots more efficiently and safely, reducing the risks of accidents and maximizing training utilization.
Project for the Installation of New Flight Simulation Equipment for the Gripen E Fighter Jet in Anápolis Reinforces Partnership Between FAB and Saab
The installation of the Gripen E flight simulation equipment at the Anápolis Air Base is another step in the partnership between Brazil and Sweden in the development of the fighter jet.
Since it was chosen as the winner of the FAB tender in 2014, Saab has been closely collaborating with Brazilian companies to develop and produce the Gripen E in Brazil.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Aviator Gustavo Pascotto, commander of the 1st GDA, the advantages of the equipment are numerous for the project.
“From basic to advanced, flight simulation equipment is used in two stages, encompassing its entire spectrum of use,” he said.
Thus, the flight simulation of the Gripen E fighter jet for the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) at the Anápolis Air Base strengthens the relationship between Brazil and Saab.
