Innovation in the gas sector with Supergasbras and NVIDIA
Supergasbras, one of the main distributors of LPG gas in Brazil, in partnership with NVIDIA, is revolutionizing the gas sector with a Brazilian Artificial Intelligence (AI) solution called SmartReader Cylinder.
This innovation, also developed in collaboration with Fu2re and Advantech, seeks to optimize the gas cylinder distribution process, capturing images to automatically identify the tare and expiration date of the cylinders. The objective is to expand the use of this technology in Brazil and in other countries.
National technology and strategic partnerships
The SmartReader Cylinder solution was developed and applied by Brazilians, relying on technology from NVIDIA, a leading company in modern computer graphics and AI, together with Fu2re, whose purpose is to bring the benefits of AI to everyone, and Advantech, leader global leader in the fields of IoT intelligent systems.
- No soy or sugarcane! Brazil's largest exported product is oil, to the delight of Petrobras and other companies in the sector.
- From pre-salt to the largest gas reserve: Petrobras discovers 6 trillion cubic feet of gas in Colombia and leads global energy revolution
- The impressive numbers from the 10 oil platforms with the HIGHEST production in October: More than 2 million barrels per day in the spotlight in the pre-salt!
- Brazil to auction 78 MILLION barrels of oil! China took the majority in the last auction
This collaboration reinforces the importance of partnerships in promoting innovation in the sector.
Employee benefits and increased productivity
The implementation of SmartReader Cylinder technology will bring significant benefits to employees, such as gains in ergonomics and well-being at work, thanks to the reduction of repetitive activities. In addition, the team of collaborators will be able to focus on more strategic functions of the production process.
The expectation is that the productivity and the reading of information from the cylinders will be more accurate, avoiding rework and improving operational efficiency.
Innovation details and future prospects
The project consists of an AI and computer vision system that automatically interprets images of gas cylinders. AI models were trained on SmartVision AI software, developed by Fu2re, and run on SmartVision EDGE AI based on NVIDIA GPU.
The process of reading each cylinder takes less than 0,5 seconds, directly on the filling line.
The project currently operates on a 24/7 scale without any downtime requirements. The next steps involve running advanced long-term function tests and expanding the technology to other lines.
This innovation demonstrates the potential of national technology and the positive impact that AI can have on the gas sector and other industry segments.
