Innovation in the Gas Sector with Supergasbras and NVIDIA

Supergasbras, one of the leading LPG distributors in Brazil, in partnership with NVIDIA, is revolutionizing the gas sector with a Brazilian Artificial Intelligence (AI) solution called SmartReader Cylinder.

This innovation, also developed with the collaboration of Fu2re and Advantech, aims to optimize the distribution process of gas cylinders by capturing images to automatically identify the tare weight and expiration date of the cylinders. The goal is to expand the use of this technology in Brazil and other countries.

National Technology and Strategic Partnerships

The SmartReader Cylinder solution was developed and applied by Brazilians, incorporating technology from NVIDIA, a leader in modern graphics computing and AI, along with Fu2re, which aims to bring the benefits of AI to everyone, and Advantech, a global leader in intelligent IoT systems.

This collaboration reinforces the importance of partnerships in promoting innovation in the sector.

Benefits for Employees and Increased Productivity

The implementation of SmartReader Cylinder technology will bring significant benefits to employees, such as improvements in ergonomics and workplace well-being, thanks to the reduction of repetitive tasks. Additionally, the team of collaborators will be able to focus on more strategic functions in the production process.

The expectation is that productivity and the reading of cylinder information will be more accurate, avoiding rework and improving operational efficiency.

Innovation Details and Future Perspectives

The project consists of an AI and computer vision system that automatically interprets images of gas cylinders. The AI models were trained on the SmartVision AI software, developed by Fu2re, and are executed on the NVIDIA GPU-based SmartVision EDGE AI.

The reading process for each cylinder is completed in less than 0.5 seconds, directly on the filling line.

Currently, the project operates on a scale of 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with no downtime requirements. The next steps involve conducting advanced long-term functionality tests and expanding the technology to other lines.

This innovation demonstrates the potential of national technology and the positive impact that AI can have on the gas sector and other segments of the industry.
