New Honda Elevate SUV Hits The Market Delivering 122 Horsepower With Its 1.5 Aspirated Engine. The Model Stands Out For Its Affordable Price And Differences From The Old Generation.

Within the competitive segment of Compact SUVs, the Honda Elevate SUV, developed in Brazil, had a brief trajectory, disappearing after a few years in the market. On the other hand, in Japan, the model gained a second generation powered by a 1.5 aspirated engine. Meanwhile, the HR-V, positioned at a higher price range, focuses its sales mainly on turbo versions.

The model in question is the Honda Elevate SUV, launched in Asia. According to BestCars magazine, the name WR-V was suggested by the public, as the brand couldn’t make an internal decision. Thus, the Honda Elevate with a 1.5 aspirated engine measures 4.32 meters in length, 1.79 meters in height, 1.65 meters in width, and 2.65 meters in wheelbase. The dimensions position the model as 60 mm taller and with a 400 mm longer wheelbase than the Japanese HR-V, however, it is 5 mm shorter, for example.

However, the Japanese media is questioning what will be the positioning of the new Honda Elevate SUV in the local market. The similarity in dimensions required efforts from the manufacturer to differentiate the models.

One example is the targeting of the audience, where, for instance, the HR-V attracts a more urban audience due to its more futuristic and urban design, with a coupe-SUV appearance. The WR-V, on the other hand, has a more conservative, robust design for a different niche of buyers. Honda does not speak about performance and power numbers, however, the expectation is that the new Honda Elevate SUV will use the 1.5 aspirated engine from the Asian City.

Honda Elevate More Affordable Costs R$ 67,460

The 1.5 aspirated engine delivers 122 horsepower and 14.8 mkgf of torque, more powerful than the basic aspirated version of the HR-V. With the arrival of the new model to the market, it’s possible that only electrified versions of the SUV will remain in the lineup.

If the mechanical set of the WR-V is not advanced, the price may be its main weapon. With prices between 2.1 million and 2.5 million yen, equivalent to R$ 67,460 and R$ 80,310, respectively, the Honda Elevate SUV is cheaper than its hybrid HR-V sibling, which costs between 2.78 million and 3.42 million (R$ 89,300 to R$ 109,858).

It is still early to confirm the arrival of the Honda Elevate SUV in Brazil, however, some data may support the idea. The model with the 1.5 aspirated engine had its design registered with the INPI, and there is a gap between the Honda City sedan and the basic HR-V, which may end up being filled by the model. However, neither of these two facts is a solid guarantee.

Standard Items Of The New Honda Model Have Not Been Disclosed

Despite the revelation of the model, its main standard items have not been disclosed. However, from the photos, it is possible to see a floating multimedia center, digital air conditioning, automatic transmission, and more. If equipped like the Asian model, items such as connectivity with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rearview camera, wireless charging for smartphones, and others may appear. In addition, Honda Sensing, the brand’s ADAS system, will be present.

It’s worth noting that Honda recently announced an update of the omnidirectional safety system, Honda Sensing 360, which the brand launched to offer advanced assistance to the driver.

Like the version launched in 2022, the technology removes blind spots around the vehicle, however, it now features a new focus on the conditions of the driver and high-definition mapping.
