Model Launched to Compete in the Compact SUV Segment Accumulates Complaints About Failures in Safety and Connectivity Items, Raising Doubts Among Owners and Potential Buyers.
Launched to compete in the compact SUV market and to face models like Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen T-Cross, Jeep Renegade, and Nissan Kicks, the Renault Kardian 2024 has been associated, just months after hitting the streets, with a series of reports of failures in essential comfort and safety items.
Complaints are multiplying on platforms like Reclame Aqui and in owner groups on social media.
Consumers describe situations of command freezing, warning messages on the dashboard, and temporary loss of braking.

The automaker claims that these are isolated cases, but the testimonies raise doubts about the model’s reliability in daily use.
Problems in the Multimedia Center of the Kardian 2024
The multimedia center, a central piece of the onboard experience, is one of the major sources of dissatisfaction for Kardian 2024 owners.
Owners report that the system experiences sudden freezes, slowness in responding to commands, and interruptions in smartphone mirroring.
There are situations where the screen stops responding, forcing the driver to turn the car off and back on to resume functions.

In some cases, the center remains with a dark or frozen screen for long moments.
The engineer André Luiz Eliseu Araújo, from Santa Rita do Sapucaí (MG), claims that his unit suffers from electromagnetic interference, something that, according to him, was confirmed by Renault.
The problem, according to the owner, occurs both in his city and on Avenida Paulista in São Paulo.
At least ten similar reports have appeared in Facebook groups and complaints on Reclame Aqui, always mentioning freezing, loss of connectivity, and the need to restart the vehicle.
Freezing and Alerts in the Automatic Transmission
Another recurring issue is the operation of the automatic transmission of the Kardian.
The component is supposed to provide smooth shifts with the six-speed dual-clutch transmission.
In practice, several owners report sudden messages on the dashboard asking to shift the lever to “P” (Parking).
The momentary freeze of the system prevents gear engagement until the car is turned off.
Some consumers have undergone complete transmission replacement at authorized dealerships.
Even so, the problem persisted in some units.

A resident of Brasília claims that the failure continued even after repair, leading to new trips to the workshop and long periods with the car out of service.
In forums, drivers repeat the same emergency procedure: turn off the vehicle, wait a few moments, and turn it back on.
In one instance, the transmission failure occurred with about 1,000 km driven.
Brake System Failures Raise Safety Alerts
The complaints related to the brake system are even more concerning due to the direct risk of accidents.
In July 2024, Renault announced a recall for the Kardian Evolution 2024, produced between March 15 and May 3.
The automaker cited problems in the fastening of the rear brake drum screws.
The service includes the replacement of the rear drums and front and rear wheel screws.
According to Renault, the defect could affect drivability and, in extreme cases, cause accidents.
Even after the recall, new reports emerged involving freezing or temporary loss of brake operation.
A resident of Campinas (SP) claims that she lost brake functionality while parking.
On Reclame Aqui, there are also complaints about accelerated wear of brake pads.

In one case, with about 7,000 km, the wear on one side damaged the disc.
Renault classified the situation as “natural wear,” but performed the repair at no cost.
Official Response from Renault
Renault Brazil states that the reported cases are isolated and not correlated. The automaker says that each consumer is attended to according to internal protocols.
According to the company, the dealership network is prepared to provide technical support whenever there is an indication of abnormality.
So far, there has been no new recall announcement beyond the one related to the rear brake of the Kardian Evolution.
Owners Report Routine Visits to Workshops and Instability
The dissatisfaction of Kardian 2024 owners is clearly reflected on social media and on Reclame Aqui.
The advertising professional Celso de Almeida Junior, from Jundiaí (SP), reports that the multimedia center of his Kardian Evo 2024 is slow and “sometimes disconnects and won’t reconnect until the car is turned off and on again.”
Other owners mention frequent visits to the dealerships.

Some report that the vehicle was left for days or weeks waiting for parts or more detailed diagnoses.
Competitiveness of the Compact SUV Market
The compact SUV segment is one of the most competitive in the country.
Models like Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen T-Cross, Jeep Renegade, and Nissan Kicks are among the best sellers.
The Kardian arrived in 2024 with a 1.0 turbo engine, dual-clutch automatic transmission, and a robust technology package.
However, the complaints may compromise the perception of reliability at a crucial moment for the model’s consolidation.
With consumers increasingly attentive to evaluations and real experiences, reports of freezing, warning messages, and braking failures have gained weight in the purchasing decision process.
