With investments of R$ 130 million, the new paper and pulp factory becomes a milestone in the history of Suzano and the region of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim; the unit has the capacity to produce 30,000 tons/year of hygiene papers, which is equivalent to 15,000 bales and 1 million rolls/day. The raw material that supplies production comes from the Suzano unit located in Mucuri, in the extreme south of Bahia.
Suzano’s new factory in Espírito Santo features state-of-the-art equipment that uses resources from Industry 4.0 and aligns with the concept of “inovability” practiced by the company, which puts innovation at the service of sustainability. “All controls are automated, integrating information from the equipment and the process, focusing on safety, operational efficiency, and quality,” explains Vander Rios, industrial manager of Suzano Cachoeiro de Itapemirim.

Local Development and Job Creation in the Region
The arrival of Suzano pulp and paper in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, Espírito Santo, strengthens job and income generation in the municipality, as well as representing an opportunity to work for a company that uses cutting-edge technology and demands specialized workers. During construction, the project generated about 300 job openings, and local labor accounted for 60% of this workforce.
To date, a team of 76 professionals has already become part of Suzano’s own workforce. Initially, there will be 170 direct job openings when the unit is operating at full capacity. According to the company, as they become available, the job openings will be posted on the company’s website at this link.
Local labor is expected to account for 65% of this total, with the prospect of increasing this participation, as well as valuing diversity and inclusion. Two of the company’s goals in this regard are: to have 30% women and 30% people of color in leadership positions by 2025.
Suzano also stimulates a business chain that represents opportunities for local companies engaged in activities such as food supply, transportation, security, hygiene, and cleaning, among other services.
In addition to the new factory, Suzano has a Pulp Production Unit in northern Espírito Santo, in Aracruz, with a presence in the region for over 50 years and also promotes local workforce and partnerships with local suppliers. Suzano is also the majority shareholder of Portocel, a port located near the pulp factory in Aracruz, and one of the most efficient in the world in pulp handling.
