Suzano Papel e Celulose plans to reduce the cash cost of pulp and bring greater efficiency to operations, in addition to building a new factory

Suzano, the company resulting from the merger between Suzano Papel e Celulose and Fibria, is one of the largest producers of eucalyptus pulp and a global reference in the sustainable use of natural resources. The company announced that it intends to invest around 2 billion reais in industrial modernization, which will reduce the cash cost of pulp and bring greater efficiency to operations. Suzano will also invest in the construction of a new eucalyptus pulp mill in the city of Ribas do Rio Pardo, in Mato Grosso do Sul.

Investments in modernization projects

According to Suzano's director of industrial pulp, engineering and energy, Aires Galhardo, the company plans to invest 2 billion reais in these modernization projects by 2024, which will reduce the cash cost of pulp by 46 reais per ton.

Aires Galhardo mentioned the replacement of the bleaching system at the factory in Jacareí (SP) with more modern technology, reducing the consumption of chemical products. In addition, due to the reduction of carbon emissions, the modernization of the device will allow more energy exports to have a financial and environmental return.

Construction of a new factory for Suzano Papel e Celulose, in Mato Grosso do Sul

The construction of Suzano's new eucalyptus pulp mill in Ribas Rio Pardo, in Mato Grosso do Sul, will have an installed capacity of 2,3 million tons. The scale of the new production line comes from Suzano's projection for the global hardwood pulp market. According to Aires, the distance between the factory and the new factory's forest is only 60 kilometers, which is very competitive.
