Petrobras’ Offshore Oil And Natural Gas Production In The Búzios Field, In The Santos Basin, Will Now Rely On Tenaris’ Services For The Pre-Salt, As The Company Signed An Agreement With The State-Owned Company For The Supply Of 100 Tons Of Pipes.

The Italian company Tenaris announced this past Wednesday (07/06) a new contract in the oil and natural gas sector in Brazil with the state-owned Petrobras. Thus, the Brazilian company will receive more than 100 thousand tons of pipes over the next 4 years to use in pre-salt productions in the Búzios Field, located in the Santos Basin, collaborating with the state company’s operations.

Tenaris’ Contract With Petrobras Provides For The Supply Of More Than 100 Thousand Tons Of Pipes For Pre-Salt Exploration In The Búzios Field

Petrobras continues to expand its international relations in the oil and natural gas sector and has now signed another contract to make improvements to its production infrastructure in Brazil. This time, the agreement is with the Italian Tenaris, which will be responsible for the production and supply of more than 100 thousand tons of pipes for the state-owned company’s pre-salt exploration in the Búzios Field.

The contract signed between the companies has a total duration of 4 years for the delivery of the products, which will be both seamless and welded, in carbon steel grades for corrosive environments and high collapse.

The majority of the pipe production service package will be carried out at Tenaris’ plant in Brazil, called Confab, located in Pindamonhangaba, in the state of São Paulo. The remainder will be produced at the Tamsa and Dalmine plants in Mexico and Italy, respectively.

In addition, Tenaris will be responsible for Rig Direct type services, delivering the pipes at the port, ready to be used on the offshore platform, so that Petrobras can use them more quickly in the pre-salt production of the Búzios Field.

The Italian company also highlighted that Petrobras will have access to all details regarding the technical specifications of the pipes to ensure service quality. And to ensure timely delivery and productive efficiency, a team of state technicians will monitor the project.

Pipe Service Package For Petrobras Is One Of Tenaris’ Largest And Will Be Essential For The Pre-Salt Areas Of The Búzios Field

Brazil is a world leader in pre-salt exploration, and Petrobras ensures a significant presence in this segment today. Thus, Tenaris’ president in the country, Renato Catallini, commented on the importance of the contract with the state company and said, “The pre-salt is one of the most challenging exploration and production environments in the world. We are committed to generating value for Petrobras and are honored that the company has entrusted us with such an ambitious project, which reinforces the long-standing partnership between Petrobras and Tenaris in Brazil.”

Moreover, the executive confirmed that this is one of the largest service packages from Tenaris worldwide and reinforced the company’s commitment to HSE practices [the English acronym for health, safety, and environment] throughout the pipe production and supply chain for the Búzios Field.
