Macaé received on Monday (26) the installation license for the natural gas unit of the Macaé Port Terminal (Tepor) from the State Government. The expectation is that 25,000 jobs will be generated with the arrival of the UPGN.

The Government of Rio de Janeiro, through the State Institute of Environment (Inea), delivered on Tuesday (26) to the City Hall of Macaé, the license for the installation of a Natural Gas Processing Unit (UPGN) at the Macaé Port Terminal (Tepor). This step fulfills another mandatory phase of the project’s installation process. According to the Governor of Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro, Tepor is an essential piece for the state’s development, as it will involve port activities to meet the growing supply demand of the oil and gas chain in the Northern Fluminense region.

Natural Gas Unit at Tepor Will Have a Capacity of 60 Million m³/Day

According to Castro, the terminal’s installation in Macaé estimates private investments of almost R$ 8 billion, in addition to generating 5,000 direct jobs and another 20,000 indirect jobs, as well as the potential expansion of tax revenue. When completed and operational, Tepor’s UPGN will have a processing capacity of 60 million m³ per day of natural gas.
