Chevrolet Engine Defies Electrification With Extreme Power And Price Equivalent To Luxury Cars In Brazil. Unique Engine Rivals Dodge And Ford In Performance And Attracts High-Performance Enthusiasts.

The launch of the engine Chevrolet ZZ632 highlights a resistance movement in the global automotive world, even in light of the growing electrification of vehicles.

The American manufacturer presents the engine as its largest and most powerful crate engine — engines sold in sealed crates, delivered to the end consumer by carrier, without direct application in production models.

The name ZZ632 refers to the engine’s displacement, expressed in cubic inches, which corresponds to an impressive 10.4 liters.

This configuration results in 1,004 horsepower and a maximum torque of 118.5 kgfm, numbers achieved at 7,000 revolutions per minute, thanks to a set of high-flow cylinder heads and forged internal components, including a roller-type hydraulic camshaft.

The project primarily targets the audience of tuners and high-performance enthusiasts, who seek engine solutions for special projects such as muscle cars, drag racing cars, and custom classic vehicles.

Price of Chevrolet ZZ632 Engine And Delivery Package

The price of the Chevrolet ZZ632 engine in the United States, in July 2025, starts at US$ 38,000 — a reduced price compared to the initial price of US$ 49,000 during the launch.

Considering the current exchange rate, the price is equivalent to about R$ 205,000, a value similar to that of premium models sold in Brazil, such as high-end sedans and SUVs.

The delivery package for the ZZ632 includes an ignition system with a crankshaft sensor, coils, water pump, damper, and valve covers in the characteristic orange color of the GM Performance division, along with other essential components for engine assembly.

Dodge And Ford Engines Rival In Power And Application

The high-performance crate V8 engine segment is not limited to Chevrolet.

Dodge, a traditional competitor in the muscle car world, maintains its lead with the Hellephant C170, a 6.2-liter V8 equipped with a 3.0-liter supercharger, developed to run on E85 fuel (a mixture of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline).

The Hellephant C170 reaches 1,025 hp and a torque of 129.5 kgfm, surpassing the ZZ632 in absolute numbers.

The added advantage of the Dodge engine is its approval for use on public roads, being the heart of the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170, which accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.66 seconds and completes the quarter-mile in 8.91 seconds.

The suggested price for acquiring the Hellephant C170 in July 2025 is US$ 28,000, making it a competitive option for those seeking maximum performance.

Ford also joins the competition with the updated Megazilla engine, presented as Megazilla 2.0.

Based on the Godzilla — a 7.3-liter V8 used in the brand’s heavy trucks — the new supercharged version promises, according to the manufacturer, “over 1,000 hp” and will be primarily destined for competition use, without approval for street vehicles at this time.

The estimated price of the Ford Megazilla 2.0 is around US$ 33,000 in the United States, consolidating the trio of large American manufacturers in the segment of crate V8 engines above a thousand horsepower.

Despite the advance of electric vehicles (EVs), large displacement V8 engines continue to spark the interest of a loyal audience.

Many enthusiasts consider the sound and dynamic behavior of these engines an essential part of the automotive experience.

Furthermore, the power and torque figures delivered by models such as the ZZ632, Hellephant C170, and Megazilla 2.0 exceed limits considered unreachable just a few years ago, fueling the culture of modified cars and high performance on authorized tracks and streets.

Another relevant aspect is the ease of installation of these engines in various automotive projects, thanks to the crate engine concept.

The consumer receives the engine ready for installation, simply needing to adapt supports and peripherals to the chosen vehicle.

This stimulates the customization of classic models and the creation of exclusive vehicles, keeping the legacy of American muscle cars alive.

Brazilian Market And Restrictions On Imported Crate Engines

In Brazil, the import of these engines faces legal and tax barriers.

Traffic legislation, through the National Traffic Council (Contran), restricts the installation of engines that do not correspond to the vehicle’s original standard, requiring bureaucratic processes for regularization.

Furthermore, the final cost, including taxes and fees, can exceed the suggested prices abroad, making acquisition restricted to a select audience.

Even in the face of these obstacles, there is demand for high-performance solutions in the country.

Specialized workshops, drag racing events, and automotive fairs demonstrate the growing interest in high-performance engines.

The Chevrolet ZZ632, with its 1,004 hp and 10.4 liters, represents not only an engineering achievement but also a statement of resistance to the total electrification of the sector, at least by a passionate segment of the automotive community.
