The Government Of The State Of São Paulo Received, On The Morning Of This Thursday, July 10, 2025, The First Of 22 Trains That Will Operate On The Future Line 6-Orange Of The Metro. The Arrival Of The Composition Is A Milestone For The Work, Which Accumulates A Long History Of Delays And Suspensions Since It Was Announced For The First Time.
According To The Government Of São Paulo, The New Line 6-Orange Train Will Be Used For Testing Starting In September. The New Forecast Is That The Line, Which Will Connect The Northern Zone To The City Center, Will Start Operating For The Public In 2026, Transforming The Mobility Of More Than 600 Thousand Passengers Per Day.
What Is Line 6-Orange? The “Universities Line”
Line 6-Orange Is A Fully Underground Metro Project, With 15 Stations And 15.3 Km In Length. It Will Connect The Brasilândia Neighborhood, In The Northern Zone, To The São Joaquim Station (Line 1-Blue), In The City Center, Passing Through Neighborhoods Such As Perdizes And Higienópolis.

The Arrival Of The First Train In July 2025
The Arrival Of The First Line 6-Orange Train Is The Most Concrete Step Towards The Completion Of The Project. The Composition, Manufactured By Alstom At Its Facility In Taubaté (SP), Was Delivered At The Morro Grande Yard.
This Is The First Of A Total Of 22 Trains That Will Make Up The Fleet Of The Line. Starting In September 2025, It Will Be Used For The First Operational Tests On The Tracks Already Installed.
The New Delivery Forecast: Operation Starting In 2026
With The Successive Delays, The Deadline For The Completion Of The Project Has Been Postponed Several Times. The Initial Forecast Was 2012, Then 2020, And More Recently, 2025.
Now, The New Official Estimate From The Government Of São Paulo Is That The Line 6-Orange Train Will Start Operating In September 2026. Due To The Delays, The Concession Contract With Uni Line Was Extended From 25 To 28 Years.
