After repeating the same lottery bet for 22 years, a resident of Akron, Ohio, hit the six numbers of the Classic Lotto, won US$ 3.5 million, and still saw the store where the ticket was bought receive an extra bonus

A resident of Akron, Ohio, in the United States, won US$ 3.5 million in the Classic Lotto after betting on the same numbers for 22 years. The prize was announced by the Ohio Lottery in a statement released in mid-February.

According to reports, the man played monthly and spent US$ 10 to repeat the same combination: 6, 8, 16, 20, 26, and 45. His persistence spanned over two decades and ultimately resulted in the jackpot.

The winner described himself as “stubborn” and maintained the habit without changing the numbers over the years. The choice became such a solid routine that it was also shared with his best friend.

The day the lottery prize was won

In the drawing held on February 4, he didn’t need to check if the sequence was correct, as he knew the numbers by heart. Before boarding a plane to return home, he told his wife: “We are going to win the jackpot!”

After that, he returned to claim the winning ticket. The statement was reproduced in the report released by the Ohio Lottery about the US$ 3.5 million prize win.

Now officially retired, the man stated that he plans to buy a house and set up a gym. He also wants to build a large swimming pool, as he had promised his wife.

The lottery prize will also guarantee an extra amount to the selling location. The MAPCO gas station, where the ticket was purchased, will receive a bonus of US$ 1,000.

The case mentioned in Ohio was not the only one noted in the report. On March 16 of last year, an Australian also won US$ 1 million after playing the same numbers for 18 years, according to a report from the 20 Minutes program.
