In the statement, ECB informs that biofuels will be produced from 2024 in a biorefinery to be built in Paraguay.

With the agreement, the group, which is currently the largest producer of biodiesel in Brazil with an annual capacity of 828 million liters, will position itself as the largest producer of advanced biofuels in the southern hemisphere and the main supplier of advanced biofuels to BP in this continent.

“This contract represents an important step towards the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, which begins with production in Paraguay and should be extended internationally,” the group said in a statement.

The biorefinery to be built in Paraguay, called Omega Green, received more than US$ 800 million in investments, the estimate is that when ready, it will be able to produce 20 thousand barrels per day of green diesel (HVO).

In addition to HVO Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil, also known as Renewable Diesel, the plant will produce Synthetic Paraffinic Kerosene (SPK), also known as Sustainable Aviation Fuel or Biojet, and Green Naphtha, used in the chemical industry to make green plastic, among other products.

The agreement is part of the British company's strategy to offer low-carbon fuel to customers in the road transport and aviation sectors and neutralize 415 million tons of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e), related to the company's operations and the production of oil and gas from the company. BP.
