Petrobras' FPSO Marechal Duque de Caxias platform to be installed in Campo de Mero, located in the Santos Basin pre-salt layer, will have a processing capacity of 180 barrels of oil and 12 million m3 of gas per day.

Petrobras informed last night (14/08) in a relevant fact, that it signed with MISC Berhad the letter of Intent for the charter and provision of services of the FPSO Marechal Duque de Caxias, to be installed in Campo de Mero. Resume registration in all functions for job openings at Petrobras nitrogen fertilizer factories in Bahia and Sergipe (Fafen), today, August 14

The FPSO Marechal Duque de Caxias platform is the third unit of the definitive system to be installed in Campo de Mero. The unit belongs to the Libra Block, located in the Santos Basin pre-salt and will have a processing capacity of 180 barrels of oil and 12 million m3 of gas per day.

According to the statement, the charter and service contracts will last for 22 and a half years, starting from the final acceptance of the unit, scheduled for the first half of 2024.

The project provides for the interconnection of 15 wells to the FPSO, 8 of which are oil producers and 7 are water and gas injectors, through an underwater infrastructure comprising rigid production and injection pipelines, flexible service pipelines and control umbilicals.

For the first time, a pilot test of the High Pressure Separation technology (high pressure separation) – in short, HISEP, developed and patented by Petrobras will be used by the Libra Consortium.

“The equipment, to be installed at the bottom of the sea, will separate and reinject, through the use of centrifugal pumps, a good part of the carbon dioxide (CO2) produced along with the oil, allowing to “unburden” the oil processing plant in the FPSO and consequently enabling an increase in oil production. HISEP® is currently in the definition and testing phase”, informs Petrobras

About the field of Mero

The Mero field is the third largest in the pre-salt layer and is located in the Libra area, operated by Petrobras (40%) in partnership with Shell Brasil (20%), Total (20%), CNPC(10%), CNOOC Limited (10%) and Pré-sal Petróleo SA (PPSA) which plays the role of manager of this contract.

It is currently being produced through an Early Production System, made up of the FPSO Pioneiro de Libra, with a processing capacity of 50 barrels of oil per day. In addition to this system, FPSOs are contracted for the Mero 1 and Mero 2 Projects, respectively called FPSO Guanabara, under construction by the company Modec, and FPSO Sepetiba, under construction by the company SBM.
