Total Eren, a leading independent renewable energy producer based in Paris, is pleased to announce that it has successfully commissioned the “Terra Santa” (92.3 MW) and “Maral” (67.5 MW) wind farms in the State of large northern river
Terra Santa (92.3 MW) and Maral (67.5 MW), in Rio Grande do Norte, have 20-year private renewable energy purchase and sale contracts (PPAs) with Cemig Geração e Transmissão (“Cemig GT”), one of the largest energy generators and distributors in Brazil. Together, the wind farms will generate 730 GWh per year, enough to supply more than 400 homes in Brazil.

For these projects, Total Eren signed Wind Energy Turbine Supply Contracts with Siemens Gamesa on October 15, 2019 for the acquisition of 45 wind turbines with 3.55 MW of nominal capacity.
The total investment of the Terra Santa and Maral wind farms reaches R$ 829 million (~ US$ 154 million). In December 2019, Total Eren entered into a financing of R$423 million (~US$79 million), with a term of 22 years, granted by Banco do Nordeste (“BNB”), a leading Brazilian development bank, which acts as the sole long-term creditor of the transaction.

Total Eren's investments in renewable energy in Brazil contribute to a lower carbon environment and socio-economic development
With the Terra Santa and Maral complexes, Total Eren contributes to an environment with lower carbon emissions and to the socioeconomic development of Brazil. During the works, around 1.650 workers were hired on site and 30 permanent employees were hired for the operation and maintenance phases.
Active in Brazil since 2013, Total Eren currently has a total of 300 MW of solar and wind power assets in operation, and an advanced pipeline of 700 MW in the country, with the aim of providing competitive renewable energy to private and public customers. In addition to the Terra Santa and Maral wind farms, Total Eren has three solar photovoltaic plants in operation in Brazil: Dracena (90 MWp), BJL 11 (25 MWp) and BJL 4 (25 MWp).
Company directors speak about investments in Brazil
Fabienne Demol, Executive Vice President and Global Head of Business Development at Total Eren, commented: “We are delighted with the commissioning of our Terra Santa and Maral wind farms, two incredible projects that we are proud to deliver for the benefit of our offtaker, Cemig GT. I would like to thank our teams for their excellent work in reaching this milestone, despite the current context related to the covid-19 pandemic. Looking to the future, we are confident that we will develop new renewable energy projects in Brazil and advance our trajectory in Latin America in the coming years.”
Pierre-Emmanuel Moussafir, Executive Director of Total Eren Brasil, added: “This is a very important milestone for Total Eren in Brazil, as we have now completed a complete cycle, implementing solar and wind power plants in the country, along with building a strong team to face our next challenges.”
In addition to Brazil, Total Eren is developing projects in other countries in the Latin American region, as well as Central America and the Caribbean. The company has 180MW of wind and solar plants in Argentina and, together with TotalEnergies, 190 MWp of solar capacity in operation in Chile, a country in which Total Eren has secured land and launched studies with the aim of developing a green hydrogen project large-scale, totaling up to 10 GW of wind capacity installed in the Magallanes region. In the Galápagos Islands, Total Eren also recently announced the co-development of a 14.8 MWp microgrid renewable energy project together with its Ecuadorian partner, Gransolar.
About Total Eren
Founded in 2012 by Pâris Mouratoglou and David Corchia, Total Eren develops, finances, builds and operates renewable energy plants (solar, wind, hydro) with a gross capacity of more than 3.500 MW in operation or under construction around the world.
Through partnerships with local developers, Total Eren is currently developing several energy projects in countries and regions where renewable energy represents an economically viable response to growing energy demand, such as in Europe, Central and South Asia, Asia -Pacific, Latin America, and Africa.
The objective is to reach a global gross installed capacity of more than 5 GW by 2022. Since December 2017, TotalEnergies, one of the largest energy companies, participates as a shareholder in Total Eren.
