Electric Hilux pickup was shown to the public at an event in Thailand and is part of the Japanese automaker's global electrification program
An innovative all-electric Hilux pickup truck, HILUX Revo BEV, was presented last Wednesday (14) by the Japanese automaker Toyota. This is a 100% electric truck that has never been seen before.
According to the brand's CEO, Akio Toyota, the car is still in the testing phase, and exclusivity was offered as part of the automaker's electrification initiative.
Thailand is celebrating 60 years of commercial activity, during which time the Hilux has become the most popular vehicle available on the market. Therefore, an event in the country was chosen by Toyota to present to the public its electric hilux.

The company's CEO showed the Toyota Hilux Revo BEV in white only, with an exclusive pattern on the front grille, in addition to a simple internal design. This demonstrates that the electric Toyota Hilux prioritizes the reduction of operating expenses for business customers who use the truck for work.
The idea is based on the same combustion version, with a single cabin, which is already marketed by Toyota, due to its conventional appearance, it gives the feeling of a version designed just for work.
The headlights of the new 100% electric Hilux presented in Thailand, have details in blue, as in the hybrid variants of the Corolla sedan and the Corolla Cross, for example.
100% electric Hilux presented by Toyota is not the only vehicle from the manufacturer with a zero emission idea
A few months ago, Toyota showed off a prototype of a Hilux powered by hydrogen, therefore, the electric Hilux Revo is not the only vehicle with the idea of zero emission of pollutants. The mechanical components of the Toyota Mirai would serve as a platform for the project, which was conceived and developed by Toyota in the United Kingdom with the assistance and support of the British government.
So far, Toyota has not provided any information about the specifications of the electric Hilux presented in Thailand. Even the manufacture of the model, in large quantities, is not certain at this point.
The current version of the Hilux, which has been in production since 2015, will be replaced by a new generation of the vehicle at some point. When that happens, it is very likely that Toyota's catalog of pickup trucks available will include at least one hybrid or electric version.
